A Soft Hum Lyrics

Everyday,
it slips away.
Life becomes a soft hum
with no reason.
You're my rose, love.
Stop making love,
going through the motions.
Tell me how come
no one gets what they really want
and love only when it's convenient?
We act like we know more than we know.
We treat love like it's something you own,
that you own.

Yesterday,
I thought I heard you say,
"Who do you think you're kidding?
We're all pissing into the wind,
wearing sheepskin,
hiding from the same things
that our dads did."
But no one gets what they really want.
We love only when it's convenient.
We act like we know more than we know.
We treat love like it's something you own.

But maybe I'll find you.
Maybe I'll find something I love.
Baby, I've found you.
Maybe I've found something I love.

Next time, report it to be corrected then. I did so now, it has been fixed now.

Great song of course, maybe the best on the album :-)

Hate to break it to cricketsandcrows, but I heard it from Julio himself that the actual name of the song is "Cotton Nymph". There's actually a lengthy story about how they arrived on that title, but he said that the liner notes are a misnomer and the song is not called "Mariah" or "Mariah... You On Fire". The initial name was a joke because they couldn't think of a name for the song and they all said the chorus sounded like an early 90's Mariah Carrey song. When they submitted the name to the record label, they took the joke even further by quoting the Mariah Carrey song "Honey" in the title. By the time they had picked a real name for the song, the joke title had been printed on all of the art for the pressing. So the actual name of the song has ended up being "Cotton Nymph", and not "Mariah", "Mariah... You on Fire", or "A Soft Hum".

oh hi. i signed up just to say that i asked dan what the song title was in Nov. 2006 and he told me that it was either "a soft hum" or "evening virgin cotton nymph." i don't think cricketsandcrows or tenoratlarge is wrong. that's the beauty of an UNTITLED TRACK....so just enjoy the song, because it's definitely amazing.

Whenever I listen to this song, i hear "Your mind grows numb" instead of "You're my rose, love."
