I Want My Innocence Back Lyrics

I want my innocence back

And if you can't give it to me

I will cut you down

And I will run you through

With the dagger you sharpened

On my body and soul

Before you slit me in two

And then devoured me whole

I want my innocence back

I want my innocence back

I want my innocence back

I want my innocence back

I want my innocence back

I want my innocence back

I want my innocence back

And if you can't pacify me

I will break your bones

You think I'm bluffing just try me

I will never forget

The words you used to ensnare me

Till my dying day

You'll suffer for this I swear

I want my innocence back

I want my innocence back

I want my innocence back

I want my innocence back

I want my innocence back

I want my innocence back

And I demand

You put my heart back in my hand

And wipe it clean

From the mess you made of me

And I require

You make me free from this desire

And when you leave, I'd better be the innocent

I used to be

I want my innocence back

I want my innocence back

I want my innocence back

I want my innocence back

I want my innocence back

I want my innocence back

I want my innocence back

I want my innocence back

I want my innocence back

I want my innocence back

People can determine innocence as whatever they wish. Rape. Broken Heart. Child-Like Views. In the end, all that I believe Emilie is trying to get at is that when you lose this innocence; Whatever it may be, you lose that part of yourself, and things are never viewed the same in your eyes.

I think it's about realising that the world isn't such a lovely, happy place, and you just want to go back to being young and naive and not understanding all the bad things around you. And the way she found out was through her heart being shamelessly torn in two, shattering her dreams.

Innoncence could be virginity, or just ignorance of the world.

I can't speak for Emilie, but I can speak for myself. Having been sexually and psychologically abused by a person I fell in love with, this song completely expresses the rage and frustration I felt before I even had words to describe what happened to me. It took me over 2 years to even admit what happened to myself, and it's taken 2 more years to even realize how deeply the psychological effects have scarred me and limited my emotional capacity. And the thing is that even after confronting said person, they do not believe what happened was anything more than a "mistake". The total manipulation of one person over another (I don't consider it "giving more than I wanted to give to a dickhead", I gave my love and trust, I did not give up these parts of my psyche that he stole from me and I can't reclaim). The truth is that emotional abuse (whether or not rape was involved) completely changes a person. The shock can leave high-capacity people without means to express what has happened, even to themselves. They downplay it, try to reason it off, until there's a time when the victims are strong enough to handle the truth. When you wake up one day and realize those "trust issues" and odd personality quirks are not just eccentric traits but symptoms of PTSD, avoidance personality disorders, etc... is a very sobering and enraging day.

This (as well as Gothic Lolita) really reminds me of the book Lolita. I love how Emilie Autumn isn't afraid so sing about such senitive topics as rape...

I agree with YingStardust. I definately think that it's about having something done to you, whether that's rape like a lot of people think it is or not, just something that snaps you out of the sense that everything is perfect that you have when you're younger, and then wanting that complete ignorance back because it's to hard to know the truth

This song is about rape. End of story. Rape: Having sex with someone when you didn't want to. Thank you and goodnight.

i so freakin' love this song. I love the music and the lyrics and I love the part when she goes

And I demand you put my heart back in my hand... etc. I love the way she sings it.

When I first heard this song, I thought it was about someone who had sex w/ someone, but regretted it. so innocence is virginity and she wants it back. And she just adds a lot og malicious comments to it just to make it more dramatic.

i dont think its about rape really, but more of giving somebody complete power over you and then finding out that somebody was a complete dickhead, but too late youve lost your innocence of the world and childlike ideals of what love is to this person.

I think the same :/

When I hear this song it reminds me of how fast I grew up due to a lot of personal and family troubles, innocence means childhood.

I often wish I could hurt the people who took my childhood but violent thoughts are just another sign of the lack of innocence, through Emilie Autumn's songs I feel things that on my own I cannot feel.
