On My Own Lyrics
Time
Cannot measure a life
Never answers the why's
Only questions
Now
As I think of today
Guess it all seems okay
As time taught me lessons
To love what I've found
And never look down
Though sometimes, I fail to remember
I get angry now and then when I forget myself
I get frightened when I think of me as someone else
Innocence is still within, evergreen but overgrown
It only happens when I'm here on my own
Now
On this island alone
In this ocean I know
I feel like a castaway
So
Do I sink, do I swim?
Can I find it within?
The strength that will teach me how
To love what I've found
And never look down
Though sometimes, I fail to remember
I get angry now and then when I forget myself
I get frightened when I think of me as someone else
Innocence is still within, evergreen but overgrown
It only happens when I'm here on my own
Time passes by without letting you know
Yesterday doesn't seem so long ago
I only fear, fear the unknown
When I'm here on my own
I get angry now and then when I forget myself
I get frightened when I think of me as someone else
Innocence is still within, evergreen but overgrown
It only happens when I'm here on my own
Cannot measure a life
Never answers the why's
Only questions
As I think of today
Guess it all seems okay
As time taught me lessons
And never look down
Though sometimes, I fail to remember
I get frightened when I think of me as someone else
Innocence is still within, evergreen but overgrown
It only happens when I'm here on my own

This is definitely one of the best Delta songs--spoken by one of the biggest Delta fans out there. This just really proves not only her vocal range, her piano superiority, and her ability to encompass all sorts of emotions... it has some of the most artful lyrics of any of her songs. 'Innocence is still within... evergreen but overgrown'... absolutely gorgeous. This is a stunning song from a stunning artist.
Where can I find a copy of this?

What do people think that: 'I get frightened when I think of me as someone else' means?
i love this song so much! the line "innocence is still within, evergreen but overgrown" really reflects my life right now. this song is quite deep and my basic perception wont do it justice but i think it is about growing up and and reflecting on yourself. the lyrics are simply beautiful and i can completely identify with what delta is saying. such a beautiful song, im suprised it wasnt on the official album. oh well, makes it all the more rare and special to find.
