Here's the town we live in
This is how the land lays out
I bought a map
So I could find my way around / way around
Taped the map on the wall
Studied every avenue
I Found my way around
Tried to feel at home for once
We worked out a system
When one of us would leave
A thumbtack stuck showing
where we were going
All the time time, you wore a hole
The same place tacked over and over
And I never go there, I never go there
But through that hole, you see
My faith in you boring deeper and deeper
Finally through the wall
Map began to rip apart
I watched it fall to the floor
I didn't bother moving my thumbtack any more
This is how the land lays out
I bought a map
So I could find my way around / way around
Studied every avenue
I Found my way around
Tried to feel at home for once
When one of us would leave
A thumbtack stuck showing
where we were going
The same place tacked over and over
And I never go there, I never go there
My faith in you boring deeper and deeper
Finally through the wall
I watched it fall to the floor
I didn't bother moving my thumbtack any more

I love this song, and his voice.
He and someone he loves can't be together, and they're always moving. It seems like he wants to settle down with them, but either can't or doesn't have the courage.
I can really identify with it. I've moved around so much in the past 3 years of my life, and can't feel at home anywhere, no matter how much I try. The one I love is somewhere else, and I've thought about just leaving my life here behind to go be with him, but I'm afraid that if things didn't work out, then I'd have nothing.
