Alien Nation Lyrics

In the heat of the violence
The night's exploding everywhere
When hate pulls the trigger
The devil comes to take his share
In the garden of Eden
The time is running out so fast
Into heart of the demon
With no escape our die is cast
In the city of angels
Death is just a moment away
In the city of angels
Your future won't see the light of the day
Beware of the alien nation
Beware of the truth that they seek
They pray for eternal salvation
They pray for your soul to keep
On the eve of destruction
A reign of terror rules the street
When the heads start rolling
The devil comes to let it bleed
In the city of angels
Death is just a moment away
In the city of angels
Your future won't see the light of the day
Walk on past the alien nation
Walk on to the end of your reach
No fear of the alien nation
No fear of the hatred they preach
Don't run, there's no place to hide
Today or tomorrow it will get you
Don't move, the knife is right at your throat
And whatever you do, there's no way out
When the shroud comes down on this place
To bury us all alive
We'll know the time has come, to face the heat
Beware of the alien nation
Beware of the truth that they seek
They pray for eternal salvation
They pray for your soul to keep
Walk on past the alien nation
Walk on to the end of your reach
They pray for eternal damnation
They pray for your soul to keep

Now I'M surprised that no one has commented on this one, I thought this was a rad song. If i was to shine some light on this, and I ain't no poet or anything but this song makes me feel to power-on through life but to stay alert of the alien nation, any kind of conspiring group (ie Goverment, Evil Groups and Gangs, Military, even media). Who are always "after" you, your money, your life, but never your dreams.

And the only other thing I can digest is the "City of Angels" I'd assume is referring to Los Angeles.

But anyways this is my first post and song description, so tell me what you think of my thoughts.

Good call MD, straight to the point. Fucking awesome opening riff to an album!

you're close with the Los Angeles reference, however the very well known movie City of Angels (which takes place in LA) is a remake of a movie called Der Himmel Uber Berlin (wings of desire), in which two angels are watching over post-war Berlin. I would assume, being a German band that has written several great songs about post-war Germany and the capital, it's a safe bet that 'city of angels' here refers to Berlin.

I could do without some of the lyrics, but the first comment seems spot on.

Truthfully, I'm not fond of the lyrics, but they aren't so bad as for me to call them what I've seen one person call the lyrics: demonic. All those mentions are merely parables.

Assuming the word alien here means foreigner, I understand the lyrics as having another explanation than a form of extraterrencial beings or some kind of conspiracy theory. What I would like to know is if the song talks about the foreigners incide a country, or another nation-country (a cold war era refference or something like that).

My Opinion

'city of angels'- Los Angeles is likely- could also be Bangkok too (the Thai word for it is 'gkrung theeb', which is- City of Angels). Don't know it the Scorpions made any political or meaningful texts apart from 'Crazy World' or 'Winds of Change'.

My Opinion

"Beware of the alien nation Beware of the truth that they seek They pray for eternal salvation They pray for your soul to keep" Sounds to me like it's referring to the Right-Wing Christian faction that will condemn anyone that doesn't follow their "rules".
