Anyone knows the meaning of these lyrics?
I love this song. I don't really know the exact meaning of the lyrics. But to me, it reminds me of someone who talks about God and tries to, like, scare people. I can't explain it. It's someone who tries so hard to get kids and people to be religious. Like those people who are like "Oh my gosh, don't do that or you'll die. God will hate you forever, he'll never forgive you." They think they're doing something good, but they're scaring the kids and "turning them away from God". Again, I really don't know because I suck at interpreting lyrics but this is what it means to me.

"And pews aren’t quite as inviting as you portray" "Its people like you that turn kids away from God" i think it's talking about how believing in God is a sacrifice. chosing to live your life according to the bible could only mean disaster. & much like the person before me, it is about how peoples lives are ruined because of religion.
the thought of saying one wrong thing could possibly send you to hell is no less than frightening to many.
" I’m not afraid at all I know it’s hard to hear You want me scared, but some want you dead" preists tend to use methods written in the bible to scare people into being "good to God", basicly i believe it is about a person that sees through all the shit portryed in church & realizes that God gave us life so that we could make CHOICES not JUDGEMENTS, & is saying not to be so cautious because with or without the priest preaching his teachings, only you can make your life worth living. fearing a book will only destroy you. & thus, this is why children would turn away from God, fearing that they will be punnished.

I would just like to take some time here to say that i am really sorry for what ever "christians" you have met in your life, but i believe those are the same people this song is talking about. Akissforjersey is actually a Christian band, and yes this song is talking about those very people you discuss. Only, not all Christians are like that, and our religion does not in any way condone that behavior. People that proclaim to be Christians, dress up nicely for church, walk around their churches like the important, godly people they pretend to be, but at home yell and scream at their kids and wife, drunk. Just an example, but those kids get that view of what it means to be a Christian, yet by nomen Christian means to be like Christ. Christ was a lowly carpenter and rode in a donkey. These people persecute even other Christians because they don't dress or act a certain way, when they themselves are far from perfect "Rocks don't take kindly straight to my chest" (in Biblical times, stoning was an "acceptable" way to kill someone, say for their "religious" (usually political) reasons). Nowhere do you see Christ acting in such a manner. I am sure for being a "screamo" band these guys have been persecuted by "christians" because of how they sound, but they have a wonderful message they want to share with a word, in a way that can touch kids say traditional gospel cannot. I am really sorry that you have been hurt, but what you wrote up there is NOT by any stretch of the imagination what the Bible says. Christ said "Come to me all you broken", not all you perfect. God heals, if God's word is being spoken and it is not encouraging or healing, it is not God's word. Satan quote scripture to Jesus, warping it out of context to try and get Him to sin. I have been broken to the point where i thought the only escape was death, but i am here today because of a wonderful and awesome God. Religion is man's creation. The sacrifice you talk about is willing. I know from experience you cannot serve two master: sin and God. The "sacrifice" you talk about is willing, and a pleasure to do for my God. He doesn't make anyone do anything. We all have a choice. A very simple one. I hope God shows you that. And i just want to tell you He loves you so much, I almost cried when i read this i am sure He did as well. I am really sorry you were hurt but God is awesome, so awesome i cannot describe it in word. i really hope you get to meet him someday.

I think this song is referring to the Christians or "so called Christians" that think they know all there is to know about God and feel that they have the right to look down and sit in judement on people that are struggling in their faith or in their walk with God. The clincher to my statements is when he sings...

...This directly addresses those people who are condemning and sitting in judgment of those who may be struggling or searching to find God. When Christians sit in judgment, it makes those that they are condemning want to turn away from that person and the God that they are serving because they have been discouraged and looked down on... This song can also be interpreted as a call to encourage and never discourage.
this song is about PEOPLE in the church who make judgements of other people and try to scare people into living a good life.
this is not one of the typical "anti-church/anti-organized religion song." seriously, akissforjersey is above one of those songs. if i had a dollar for every crappy anti-government/anti-organized religion song i would be a millionaire.
plus, their music is Amazing...see them live, you won't regret it.
This song is beautiful, their songs need to be read of hundreds of times. They have such a God given talent, i pray they get signed and can spread their message further. This, along with Oh, Infamous City, Faces, Devices, all sick nasty songs. LOVE THEM.
