Stand In The Rain Lyrics

She never slows down
She doesn’t know why but she knows that
When she’s all alone it feels like its all coming down

She won’t turn around
The shadows grow long and she fears
If she cries that first tear, the tears will not stop raining down

So stand in the rain
Stand your ground
Stand up when it’s all crashing down
You stand through the pain
You won’t drown
And one day what’s lost can be found
You stand in the rain

She won’t make a sound
Alone in this fight with herself
And the fears whispering if she stands she’ll fall down

She wants to be found
The only way out is through everything
She’s running from, wants to give up and lie down

So stand in the rain
Stand your ground
Stand up when it’s all crashing down
You stand through the pain
You won’t drown
And one day what’s lost can be found
You stand in the rain

The line "Alone in this fight with herself and the fears whispering" gives the connotations of somebody who is alone but trying to carry on even with what they are scared of still being around

My Interpretation

o man im glad someone wrote a song with the lyric "she feels if she cries that first tear, the tears will not stop raining down." because thats just how i feel sometimes. i dare not let that first one fall, or even close my eyes because id never, never stop.

the idea is to stand in the rain so no one will be able to distinguish between your tears and the rain on your face.

I love this song. It tells you to stay as strong as you can, promising blue skies after the rain. But how is it about god or Christianity? I don't want my views on it to be tainted because of this. I'm not exactly the number #1 believer of god...

this song's not about God, but it has Christian undertones, just because, instead of promoting some selfish means of shallow relief, it encourages you to just face whatever crap life's throwing at you, because this life isn't it, so there's definitely a light waiting for you at the end of the tunnel. Stand in the Rain is similar to Beauty from Pain, just without the word "God" in it, basically.

" I don't want my views on it to be tainted because of this. I'm not exactly the number #1 believer of god... "

Honestly, i take personal offense...

when i here this song i think of how no matter what we shouldnt fall we should stand up no matter whats goin on arround us how we all just want to be saved from ourself and not be in so much pain just to stand up and stand in the rain

For me, this song represents my struggles with bipolar disorder and all the other obstacles that it has brought with it. I really love this song.

to be honest, I agree with dark-julie, and I think that's partly because of their other song 'courage'. I can see it could be general, and it has some useful messages for everyone, and could even be indirectly linked to the principles of religion, but there are parts of it that scream eating disorder to me. "alone in this fight with herself" - it's ultimately an internal battle between healthy and "disordered" mind. "the only way out is through everything she's running from" could refer to the only way of getting through an eating disorder is to gain weight/eat/stop behaviours - everything you're running away from in the first place. I really relate to it, and I love the last chorus with the almost scream in the background, ironically I'll often listen to it and end up crying at the point when its "and she fears if she cries that first tear, the tears will not stop raining down". awesome song, love it - I love it when I can identify totally with lyrics.

Okay most people would not expect me to struggle with depression but I do and thus the song speaks to me alot. This song talks about our inward struggle with the cost of our outward facade. Many people including me attempt to hid our problems and the when we finally want to reveal them we struggle to let the world know we hurt. In all reality each one of us has these problems so if we 'stand in the rain' we become one with a group of people who all have issues some more pronounced and serous than others but they exist and if you let people know then we can let everyone support each other.

My Opinion

Per Tricia Brock of Superchick - “I had a friend who was going through this heartbroken place in life. Sometimes the broken, painful things we go through seem impossible and hopeless. But avoiding storms in life does nothing but postpone the inevitable. We do have to allow ourselves time to stand in the middle of it, face the storm, and believe that it will pass. Skies will brighten, and sometimes, exactly when we think we can’t make it another day, the rain passes over us and the sun comes out again. Sometimes to just be the friend holding their hand through it, holding out our umbrella of hope when theirs is broken and tattered, is all we can do.” This song meant so much to me when I was passing through the hardest time in my life in 2007. I would sit listening to it with tears running down my cheeks and thank God for all those who held their umbrellas over me during the storm!

Cool! first comment! nyways, THis song really helps me whenever I'm feeling insecure or bad about myself. alot of times I find myslef holding in alot of emotion. I know that if I hold it in too long then one day ill just blow which could very easily be bad. so i know that i just have to cry sometimes, or yell, or whatever. the only way out is to go through!
