The pictures falling off the wall
They say that this is changing
Under it all, under it all
The faces look so different
But something catches you
Try not to fall, try not to fall
I can't stay here inside this mess

So can I jump on the wagon towards your place
And I'm running from it
Under it all, under it all
And I can't see anything, anything at all
It's clouding the vision of you again

And I sing
I'll walk away from all I am
And you are there, behind the dim
I walk to you and know I'm there, I'm there
Can you see, I'm falling faster but I'm
I'm dying to know you, I'm dying to know you again
The love we had will never come again
Under it all

Don't wait for me to follow through
With anything I promised
I know that I've changed, but not that much
I think that we've got to
Figure it out inside our heads, 'cause I'm not fading
Under it all
And what you see is what you get
So get ready

Let's take it slow, let's relax now
To finding out what we had together
We knew that it would be the same as it was before
But we were under it all, under it all

And I can't stay away 'cause I'm
I'm dying to know you, I'm dying to know you again
And all I see in you I'm
I'm dying to know you, I'm dying to know you again
Don't fall away from all
I'm ready to show you, I'm ready to show you again
What I am 'cause I'm gone, I'm gone down
'Cause I'm away without you I'm
I'm dying to know you, dying to know you again

And all I see are silhouettes fading on my brain
Of love we had, what we made

Break down with this love we had 'cause I'm
Dying to know you, I'm dying to know you again
And all I see is you and
I'm dying to know you, I'm dying to know you again
Again, yeah, I'm dying to know
I'm dying to know you again

Both as a standalone and as part of the DSOTS album, you can take this lyric as read. As a matter of public record, Jourgensen's drug intake was legendary even in the 1980s. By the late 90s, in his own words, he was grappling with massive addiction issues and had lost almost everything: friends, spouse, money and had nearly died more than once. "Dark Side of the Spoon" is a both funny & sad title for an album made by a musical genius who was losing the plot; and this song is a message to his fans & friends saying he knows it. It's painful to listen to so I'm glad the "Keith Richards of industrial metals" wised up and cleaned up. Well done sir.

Dreamwalker

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
