hmm .. okay, well i think this song is about a guy who has just met/seen a girl he's interested in. he believes that she's lieing to him, and not being herself. "the cup of denial your precious addiction Your lies taste vile" then by the end of the night, he believes all the impact she's left on him was a nodding acquaintance, and everything she told him isn't the true story, which would lead him to believe that he never really knew her at all. yeaaah, just sort of rambling on here, so feel free to correct me if you think otherwise.

Someone who has changed, being told it would be better to be thierself 'and you'd better be yourself'

A good person underneath 'yourself tastes better'

However accidicted possibly to liquor 'tastes better'

So they arn't being theirself as they have an alcahol or drug addiction 'pieces of your heart'

[this is where i get the feeling it is an alcahol addiction]

the one addicted is caught again drinking 'caught sipping from'

they will not admit they they are addicted 'the cup of denial'

and someone says to them yes, you are addicted 'your precious addiction'

and the lies, the lies that they are not drinking (remember caught sipping from) are just wrong 'your lies taste vile'

The person trying to help finaly gives up after catching them at drinking again 'and a nodding aquaintance will be all thats left for us'

they simply say that they thought better of the person, that they thought they knew them but obvviously not enough 'I’ll swear I used to know you but obviously not enough'
