Walk with Me in Hell Lyrics

Pray for blood
Pray for the cleansing
Pray for the flood
Pray for end of this nightmare
This lie of a life can as quickly as it came dissolve

We seek only reprieve
And welcome the darkness
The myth of a meaning, so lost and forgotten

Take hold of my hand
For you are no longer alone
Walk with me in hell

Pray for solace
Pray for resolve
Pray for a savior
Pray for deliverance
Some kind of purpose, a glimpse of a light in this void of existence

Oh...
Now witness the end of an age
Hope dies in hands of believers
Who seek the truth in the liar's eyes

Take hold of my hand
For you are no longer alone
Walk with me in hell

Walk with me in hell
Walk with me in hell
Walk with me in hell
Walk with me in hell
Walk with me in hell

Take hold of my hand
For you are no longer alone
Walk with me in hell

Walk with me in hell
Walk with me in hell

You're never alone
You're never alone
You're never alone

You're never alone
You're never alone
Walk with me in hell

I think this song is about how people rely on religion, and how if religion was suddenly gone, theyre lives would fall apart. Some religions see those who dont follow religion at all, or other religions as those who will go to Hell, maybe "walk with me in Hell" means abandon religion all together?

this song addresses the destruction of codependency

@dlset12 with who? or what? I think answering that is the crux of the theme.

I think this song is about people who can't find solace in their religious beliefs. Randy is sort of playing the part of Satan (Although it could just be metaphorical), telling people to essentially embrace their dark sides, their inner evils as comfort for what religion left them with.

As he says

"You're never alone"

Because we will always have our demons to turn to.

And for pure, letting the entire album run through goodness, I gotta agree with BTP17 - Palaces is classic. I think Sacrament might be my new favourite though, sorry.

their website says its about the destruction of codependency or something

@990088 would that codependency be with God??

Ok, so the person who said it addresses the destruction of codependency, do you know what that means?

Taking that idea it does make a lot of sense though

Take Hold Of My Hand For You Are No Longer Alone Walk With Me In Hell

I always thought those first two lines were almost hopeful, but thinking about it, it could be saying that relying on someone else is like hell. If you get my drift.

hmm i think the hell he's talking about is life itself.. not hell as in the hell you go to after you die. but he's saying that life on earth has become so ugly that it's equvilant to hell.. "The myth of a meaning, so lost and forgotten" we often believe that life does have a meaning, but he's suggesting that it probably doesn't, that the phrase "life has a meaning" is just a myth.. and if it ever did have some meaning, it was lost a long time ago. but people still do look for a purpose- "Some kind of purpose, a glimpse of a light in this void of existence".

"Hope dies in hands of believers Who seek the truth in the liar's eyes"

Those who believe in big things (such as religion) really do it to satisfy their need for some answers, so they think they find the Truth in religion or whatever it might be.. but really it's all a lie. "witness the end of an age".

@forever_haunted this is the real meaning.. life in general..

This is almost too good to be true! You've obviously not read the statement on LoG's O-F-F-I-C-I-A-L site where they've written: "...Walk With Me In Hell' addresses the destruction of codependency...". Sounds pretty much like the "destruciton of codependency" is the subject of the song.

Also sounds pretty much like codependency to me.

ALL PROBLEMS SOLVED!

@RoC It's basically a story of a person and life "hell" he goes through in his lifetime... many aspects are being mentioned between the lines, i think we can clearly relate those..

Great fucking song. But yes, it is about an individual whose life is a living hell, with no true friends, only false ones who constantly drag him down into misery ("Take hold of my hand, walk with me in hell"), and who prays that all the shit will be put to an end.

I wish the rest of Sacrament could have been like this song. This is pretty much the only song I really like off the album.

Lamb of God Guitarist Mark Morton recalled to Kerrang! February 21, 2009: "I worked on that song for a long, long time, probably about two years. It was a pretty long incubation period for a song. And the lyrics are kind of a love song to my wife, although no-one would ever expect that from a song titled 'Walk With Me In Hell." Mark Morton wrote the lyrics shortly after falling in love with a girl named Karrie Lynn who would eventually become his wife. The guitarist recalled in an essay written for Vice.com, how he "yearned to let her know how deeply I felt for her, painstakingly scribbling lyrics asking my love to 'take hold of my hand' and promising her she was 'never alone.'"

Song Meaning

Oh god... the clanging at the end of this song adds such an amazing touch. The solo is very well done too. I don't think this album's gonna be their best (yet) but from what I've heard of it, I think it may really grow on me in time.

As for the meaning, i think it has something to do with religion...For the empty hoping and praying for the second coming of Jesus. I take it the "liar" Randy's talking about is Christianity. Just going off on a limb though...

But I don't think it has anything to do with war, cause as I remember, someone said that the album's going to stray from the usual war themes.
