Fadeaway Lyrics
I'm not clear how it is that I ended up here
Then let me help you clear your clouded memory, it's easy
Cuz nobody in the world could know you better than me
Deja Vú, think of you now so far, once so near
Don't get all sentimental using up your prime, showtime
This pile of shit you're shovelin's getting hard to climb
Tangled in my own reflection, on the way down fadeaway
With my hands on my mind, I hold wounds that won't mend
Well just stop trying to be something that you're not, maggot
You'll never shake me, never break me, and never overtake me
With my eyes opened wide I can see it's the end...
Tangled in my imperfections, on the way down fadeaway
Don't hate me now
They've torn away the ground from under me
Right after they were reassured that I believed
Normality is not a word I understand at all
I set myself up for the fall
Withdrawing deep into the hole
This isolated little hell leaves me cold and faded
Fadeaway
I'm my one and only friend, I am my worst enemy
I find new methods to pretend that this is not reality
Don't be lonely I'm your only...
Just stay far away from me
When I fadeaway from me
Decline, more wine, deadline
All mine
Cuz nobody in the world could know you better than me
This pile of shit you're shovelin's getting hard to climb
You'll never shake me, never break me, and never overtake me
They've torn away the ground from under me
Right after they were reassured that I believed
Normality is not a word I understand at all
I set myself up for the fall
Withdrawing deep into the hole
This isolated little hell leaves me cold and faded
Fadeaway
I find new methods to pretend that this is not reality
When I fadeaway from me
All mine

the verses are a conversation between someone and their ... darker side, for lack of better words. that's all i can decipher. i like the first half of the song, but once it comes into "don't hate me now", to me, the song starts to drag. especially once it reaches "just stay far away from me ..."
I agree with the conversation thing. I like how he did it. I don't agree on how it drags on though. I know that it's more of a matter of opinion though, so I'm not knocking the opinion. Still a good song. I think that it might have been good for the Spider-man 3 movie. More because of the whole concept of the movie.
i would say the conversations are between himself, and his concious. and there is no way this song drags on..
I think this song is an introspective fight between a man and his stage persona, about the stresses of the music industry. Struggling with the image he portrays for his fans and his true self he gets 'Tangled in [his] own reflection, on the way down'. He eventually realizes that '[he's] not What [he] used to be' (can be heard @ 4:03 Why is this line missing from the lyrics? can we fix these a bit?)
I think my point can be a little better made by breaking down the last half of the song.
'Don't hate me now They've torn away the ground from under me Right after they were reassured that I believed(They being the label) Normality is not a word I understand at all I set myself up for the fall (By agreeing to everything They said) Withdrawing deep into the hole This isolated little hell leaves me cold and faded (Eventually giving up and becoming what they want him to be) Fadeaway
I'm my one and only friend (the only one who knows the real me) , I am my worst enemy (and my stage persona) I find new methods to pretend that this is not reality Don't be lonely I'm your only...
Just stay far away from me When I fadeaway from me
Decline, more wine, deadline All mine'
I know it's a bit far fetched but read some of klaytons interviews about the Christian music scene and circle of dust then rethink this song.
building on the last point: Just stay far away from me(he is orried his new self will hurt the ones he loves) When I fadeaway from me(as he changes). The part "just stay far away from me(first) isrealy sad and well sung I think.
I completely disagree with Minuteman's thought of how it drags out half through I think the second half is the better half Though' the whole song is amazing.
To each his/her own :] And it definitely seems like someone fighting an inner self' "dark side' of them.
Shadenhand, youve cracked it. Ive been searching for a reason for celldweller to denounce his faith. Apparently the temptations and Glory of that side of the music industry were too much for him. he also claims to be easily tempted in the song "frozen". HOLY CRAP THANK YOU SHADENHAND!
I belive that the lyrics is about being addicted and the "dark voice" is the part of his conscious that feels the urge to take drugs. If you listen to the song and keep drugs and addiction in mind it actually makes sense and what makes most sense is "just stay far away from me" and "I'm not clear how it is that I ended up here" and if you want to think that he writes his songs about the same things you can listen to "birthright" where he is disappointed with himself that he doesn't stop and he just keeps going on but he hates what he does. He just keeps being entangled by his own addiction. Ah well back to the topic, "Don't hate me now They've torn away the ground from under me Right after they were reassured that I believed Normality is not a word I understand at all I set myself up for the fall Withdrawing deep into the hole This isolated little hell leaves me cold and faded Fadeaway" i think this is basically his addiction ruining everything he has and that he fades away from reality as the addiction gets stronger and worse.
