The Good Humor Man He Sees Everything Like This Lyrics
hummingbirds hum
why do they hum?
little girls wearing pigtails
in the morning, in the morning
la da da
da da da da
merry-go-rounds are going around
in and all over the town
in the morning, in the morning
la da da
da da da da
summertime's here
and look over there
flowers everywhere
in the morning, in the morning
la da da
da da da da
why do they hum?
little girls wearing pigtails
in the morning, in the morning
da da da da
in and all over the town
in the morning, in the morning
da da da da
and look over there
flowers everywhere
in the morning, in the morning
da da da da

Seems to me like it's commentary on putting fingers in your ears and going "la da da dada da laaa" and enjoying mild distractions like the world is sunshine and unicorns
Despite all the (probably intentionally) cliche hippie imagery of children, flowers and merry-go-rounds, there's something pretty creepy about this song I can't put my finger on, especially with the sudden tape-manipulated ending.
Yes. I feel like this is a certain commentary on the simplistic hippie movement while also being part of it. I have to agree that Forever Changes is one of the best albums of the 20th century and yet one of the least known.
It sounds like it came right out of the 60s, yet it's full of complexity that you don't get from many of the psychedelic bands of the time. Plus the chord changes and modulations in most of their songs are something that hardly anyone else ever does. Amazing stuff.
I love that ending. The interesting chord changes and unpredictability of Love's music on "Forever Changes" keeps drawing me back, even after all these years. It is one of the best albums of all time.
