Push Lyrics
You never really wanted it
You'll settle for a bit of it
We started with a big bang
And now it's coming back again
Hey, don't you feel it now?
My shiny side down
Hey, burning brighter still
And you're getting sick
And you're feeling it
It'll wear you down and wear you down
You chase it, breathing in and out and in and out
They'll push you up against the wall, against the wall
You didn't think you'd feel it all but you were wrong about it
Push
It started with a handgun
Loaded with excuses
I started faking it
And then we started breaking it
All the pieces used to fit
Using like it's going out of style
Maybe just a little while
And This will be the last time
Every time's the last time
Hey, don't you feel it now?
My shiny side down
Hey, burning brighter still
And you're getting stuck
And you fucked it up
It'll wear you down and wear you down
You chase it, breathing in and out and in and out
They'll push you up against the wall, against the wall
You didn't think you'd feel it all but you were wrong about it
Push
I regreted it
I regret a lot of things
I regreted it
I regret a lot of things
It'll wear you down and wear you down
(I regreted it)
You chase it, breathing in and out and in and out
(I regret a lot of things)
They'll push you up against the wall, against the wall
(I regreted it)
You didn't think you'd feel it all but you were wrong
(I regret a lot of things)
About it

Sorry to burst any bubbles, but this is not at all about sex. If you were a fan of the band, you'd know the lead singer - song writer, Josh, had bulimia and a heroin addiction. I think it's a mixture of both, but also possibly about the pressure that came with trying to overcome both of them.
Well at first thought it sounds like it's about sex...but I guess if you really analyze it, it COULD be about heroin...
"It'll wear you down and wear you down (You chase it breathing in and out and in and out)" -The 'wear you down' part is self-explanitory...the breathing in and out could be inhaling and exhaling...since he smoked the heroin.
"You didn't think you'd feel it all but you were wrong about it" -I guess that could be ...he didn't think that it would really have an affect on him but it did...like whether he thought he wouldn't get high and he did or maybe he thought he wouldn't feel shitty after and he did.
"Using like it's going out of style maybe just a little while This'll be the last time everytime's a last time" -I agree with mrsjoshramsay for this part...also the fact that he says "using" instead of "using it" or something makes me think it's more about drugs.
Another reflection on how the song related to my first romantic relationship:
You never really wanted it You'll settle for a bit of it We started with a big bang And now it's coming back again
He didn't want it at first, but he ended up giving it a try. Things were happening really quickly for us, until they weren't...
Hey, don't you feel it now? My shiny side down Hey, burning brighter still And you're getting sick And you're feeling it
Once I got to expressing my feelings, he wasn't comfortable and got sick of it all, and so, he kept pulling and pulling away.
It'll wear you down and wear you down You chase it, breathing in and out and in and out They'll push you up against the wall, against the wall You didn't think you'd feel it all but you were wrong about it Push
My honesty was getting to be too much for him, wearing him down, yet he kept chasing it until he felt the push. He didn't think he would feel so much, but he was wrong.
It started with a handgun Loaded with excuses I started faking it And then we started breaking it All the pieces used to fit Using like it's going out of style Maybe just a little while And This will be the last time Every time's the last time
Excuses, excuses, excuses. He kept bringing them up and since he wasn't taking ownership for his actions, I started acting like I was okay, even though I really, truly, wasn't. That's when things started to break and no longer fit like they used to.
Hey, don't you feel it now? My shiny side down Hey, burning brighter still And you're getting stuck And you fucked it up
He felt stuck, so he started putting up a wall of boundaries; boundaries that worked for him and him alone. I respected them, but I wasn't happy. And then when I tried to speak up and set a boundary of my own, he wouldn't respect it. I regreted it I regret a lot of things I regreted it I regret a lot of things
I wonder if he regrets how things ended with us. I know I have my regrets. I wish I spoke up more for myself and didn't let him walk all over me, but what's done is done. At least there's a lesson to be learned from it all.
[Edit: didn't finish]
This Song is awsomee. Sounds like its about a messed up relationship, like most songs... Newayss Love it.
Makes me think about drugs for some reason.
this part of the song
"It'll wear you down and wear you down (It's easy breathing in and out and in and out) I'll push you up against the wall against the wall You didn't think you'd feel it all but you were wrong about it"
that reminds me of that PUSHing game (also pass out game) where you breath in and out deeply and someone pushes you up against a wall and then you pass out/faint. just thought i'd put that out there
some parts of it make me think it's about an eating disorder.. even more than some of their other songs are about this too. either way, it's a great song. =)
your correct this song is about josh going through his eating disorder. but has gotten over it! which is a good thing :)

no, it's about his drug addiction.
no, it's about his drug addiction.
i think this song is about his heroin addiction he used to have..
You never really wanted it You'll settle for a bit of it We started with a big bang And now it's coming back again
It'll wear you down and wear you down
You didn't think you'd feel it all but you were wrong about it
Using like it's going out of style maybe just a little while
This'll be the last time everytime's a last time
and as the last lines say, he regrets ever touching it because it probably screwed his whole life up..
tooootally aggree.
tooootally aggree.
i don't think any of there songs sound like they're about relationships. their album is basically about josh's bulimia and heroin addiction hence the title of the cd, fix me..
Josh's voice is fantastic.
