Hm.
To me, it seems like he relates drugs to a love interest. Saying how this girl just seems to make everything better for him; make his life worth it.
I think he tries to relate that to how drugs make you feel, I guess.
And the other half of it: How this girl may have rejected him, or there is certain reasons he should not be with her. Just like drugs are bad for you.
I have no idea... thats just what I get out of it.
I don't think it's about a love interest. I think it's about maybe a family member, someone who's disappointed in him, like a father, maybe? Anyway, he's saying that the drugs make him forget all of the expectations said person has and he can sort of forget those and not have to worry about them
this song means that he has a love for a girl and that she keeps rejecting him and he has written her letters but tore them up knowing it is a waste of time and that when a he uses heroine it makes him forget her like when it said"And time slips by when high."
I love this song. I find myself singing it all the time. I think he may be using drugs as a metaphor. Not 100% sure, but all I know is that I can't listen to this song without feeling sad.
