Lust Of The Libertines Lyrics

Lust of the libertine
Is really quite tame
Well it rages quiet now here beside you
And your lust for fame
But fame's such a sinister game
It will all end this way then
Some things won't be the same
Just a face and a name, on a page
But I'll be soundly sleeping
I'll sleep right through this age

Cause I can deal with all
The blood on my shoes
And the holes in my soul
My spirit all tainted
All my tears are painted

Just so long as you
You don't forget to uh uh oh
Cut me on the wall
By the graffiti of all the things
I just couldn't say
Shove me up the wall
Oh my darling
It was a kind of loving
But you left me in that family way again

The dust on my tambourine
Really can be explained
Well I need to shake it more often
I need to shake away the blame
Fame's such a sinister game
The taste of goulash in your mouth
As you stumble offstage

I can deal with all
The blood on my shoes
And the holes in my soul
My spirit all tainted
All my tears are painted

But just so long as you
You don't forget to uh uh oh
Cut me on the wall
By the graffiti of all the things
I just couldn't say

Well shove me up the wall
Oh my darling
It was a kind of loving
But it left me in the family way again

Sha-la-la-la..

It's not a babyshambles song. It's one of the first songs the Libertines ever recorded and Carl sings it!

I'm pretty sure this is a Babyshambles song, cant seem to find any mention of this being recorded as the Libertines, although it has slightly different lyrics to this one.

Definitely Pete's song, refers to the book by Marquis de Sade which he used to name the band! (obviously)

I always thought it was a babyshambles song, but I'm fairly sure it's not. I think it's probably from one of the sessions, and the name of the song is actually from a book, or a film...just ironic that's all.

Its definitely Pete singing btw, in the version I can hear anyway.

It really is Carlos singing it in the original version, which is all done like how the libertines sounded originally, like kind of a weird jazz sound...

To clear up any confusion, there are 2 versions of this song.

The original is by The Libertines, which has Carl singing. The second version is an acoustic by Peter Doherty.

The second version is actually credited to Babyshambles but as I said it is an acoustic with Peter singing.

This song's about Carl being a woman.
