Dino Damage Lyrics
You gotta let go when they get that old
You gotta let 'em go
If you hold on, they'll puncture your lungs
And separate your spine from your skull
You gotta let 'em go
You gotta let go when they get that old
You gotta let 'em go
If you hold on, they'll bite your fingers off
And tear you limb from limb
It's second nature to them
You gotta let go when they get that old
You gotta let 'em go
If you hold on they'll tear your stomach open
And rip your guts out with their teeth
You gotta just release
You gotta let 'em go
If you hold on, they'll puncture your lungs
And separate your spine from your skull
You gotta let 'em go
You gotta let 'em go
If you hold on, they'll bite your fingers off
And tear you limb from limb
It's second nature to them
You gotta let 'em go
If you hold on they'll tear your stomach open
And rip your guts out with their teeth
You gotta just release

I've always interpreted this song as talking about regrets, grudges, bad relationships, hurt, anger, fear, and anything negative or constricting in a person's life. We have to let go of them because if we hold on they will destroy us eventually.
This song made me think of parents, and their children. If parents try to hold on too long, it's bad for both them and their kids. It's like harboring wild animals, really.
It's quite the metaphor. It can be applied to everything you guys have said, too. Gotta let go of old problems, hatred, grudges, relationships, etc.
Yeah, I like thinking of this song in terms of the parent-child relationship, in addition to the literal 'dinosaur' reading. It makes listening to it a more interesting experience for me.

After I heard this song, I immediately became hooked on Miniature Tigers.
me toooo!!!! im obsessed. i told him i was obsessed with him and he told me he was obsessed with me. im in love.

I just want to add that when he says, "You gotta let go when they get that old, you gotta let 'em go" that holding onto for instance, a grudge for years and years until it has become old will do nothing but grow and hurt you. It grows to consume a person's life and stops them from living life to the fullest, so you have to "let them go" when you've simply held onto something so unhealthy for so long.
This song is totally about releasing animals back into the wild when they get to be. Miniature tigers, if you will. "It's second nature to them"-it's second nature for animals to attack because they're wild. The song makes complete sense with this theory.
literally, I imagine baby t-rexes going on a flesh-eating rampage, but I equate the song to referring to letting go of the past and moving on so that little things that can't be changed don't destroy you.
this song is about having to let a relationship go because its gone on for too long and the other person is vicious and can hurt you so easily but youre very attached so it is hard for you
Muammar is right IMO. I think these guys are ridiculously whimsical. They might have a deeper meaning, but I think initially that's what you're supposed to think.
the first time i heard this my brother was like "okay so imagine you are raising a bunch of little dinosaurs and this song is my warning to you to let them go" and on the surface thats exactly what it is but its about not holding on to anything for too long in my opinion
The first time I listened to this, I also fell in love with the band, and since then, I haven't been able to picture anything else besides the band trying to raise a family of baby dinos. It's adorable and scary all at the same time.
