You can hang on to me
But my love won't surround you
Now that you're finally gone
I am free to get on with my life

You can summon all the gods
That your black heart desires
They cannot help you 'cause they're starting fires
To burn you alive

Tell it to the volcano, from what I know you're goin' down the hole
Down you're goin' down the hole, tell it to the volcano
Save your sorry's, tell it to the volcano

A year ago today I was fallin' in love with you
I didn't know how I could tell you
You were breaking my heart, shrinking my head
I couldn't get out of my bed

Tell it to the volcano, from what I know you're goin' down the hole
Down you're goin' down the hole, tell it to the volcano
Save your sorry's, tell it to the volcano

Oom, I'd like to chuck ya
Oom, I'd like to chuck ya
Oom, I'd like to chuck ya
Oom, I'd like to chuck ya
Oom, I'd like to chuck ya
Oom, I'd like to chuck ya down

Oom, I'd like to chuck ya
Oom, I'd like to throw away the pain on my own
You're cryin' and you're screamin'
And you're beggin' not to go

Tell it to the volcano
Down you're goin' down the hole, tell it to the volcano
Save your sorry's, tell it to the volcano

Oom, I'd like to chuck ya
Oom, I'd like to chuck ya
Oom, I'd like to chuck ya
Oom, I'd like to chuck ya
Oom, I'd like to chuck ya
Oom, I'd like to chuck ya down

The singer speaks of how he used to be head-over-heels for this girl. Now he's over her, and she is the one trying to get with him. Unfortunatly for her however, he wants nothing to do with her.

I have no idea what the Volcano thing is about. I've seen every episode of LOST, and I don't think it is a reference to that show, I may be wrong though.

    Great song anyway...

singer was in a relationship, they broke up, sounds like it was the girls fault since he tells her to save her sorrys. He loves his new freedom. At first I thought the song used a tribal pacific island feel, The song uses what I feel are tribal south american, specifically the amazonia region analogies to have this all play out. The song opens with panpipes which are VERY prominent and important in this region. The shrunken head reference is also a practice that is unique to this region. The talk of Volcanoes is essentially him telling the girl he doesn't want to hear her crap anymore and tells to just to tell it to the volcano as she falls into it. The line about gods is a reference all the tribal gods in that region, as they are typically viewed as violent and vengeful gods that desire human sacrifices. I think this refers to her bringing new guys in her life and treat her bad just to get his attention, I've had this happen to me many times. The song eventually becomes very humours when the singer decides he would like to take matters into his own hands and get rid of her himself by "chucking her" into the volcano. I love this song, its a perfect example of the amazing way the miniature tigers use analogies to cultures around the world.

i'm pretty sure it's "they cannot help you" instead of "thinking i'll help you."

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
