Breathe Into Me Lyrics
And this is how it feels when I
Ignore the words you spoke to me
And this is where I lose myself
When I keep running away from you
And this is who I am when,
When I don't know myself anymore
And this is what I choose when
It's all left up to me
Breathe your life into me
I can feel you, I’m falling
Falling faster
Breathe your life into me
I still need you
I’m falling, falling
Breathe into me
Breathe into me
Breathe
And this is how it looks when
I am standing on the edge
And this is how I break apart
When I finally hit the ground
And this is how it hurts when I
Pretend I don't feel any pain
And this is how I disappear
When I throw myself away
Breathe into me
Breathe into me
Breathe into me
Ignore the words you spoke to me
And this is where I lose myself
When I keep running away from you
When I don't know myself anymore
And this is what I choose when
It's all left up to me
I can feel you, I’m falling
Falling faster
Breathe your life into me
I still need you
I’m falling, falling
Breathe into me
Breathe into me
Breathe
I am standing on the edge
And this is how I break apart
When I finally hit the ground
Pretend I don't feel any pain
And this is how I disappear
When I throw myself away
Breathe into me
Breathe into me

The song has nothing to do with committing suicide. That's the thing with people who don't understand Christianity. I don't mean to go on a bashing spree, but you people need to realize that in Christianity, the battles between good and evil are purely SPIRITUAL. When you read lyrics about a Christian song, everything, EVERYTHING has to do with the spirit. When death and destruction are described, it is a SPIRITUAL meaning. The fact that Christianity is focused on the spirit is what separates it from other beliefs. Any Christian or non-Christian that thinks when they speak of death as a physical meaning knows nothing. It is all spiritual.
That aside, the song is about falling away from God. He is in a desperate situation, NOT suicidal. His life is fading away, and he is crying to God in desperation to breath His life into him, because he wants to believe. My favorite line would have to be, "And this is how it hurts when I pretend I don't feel any pain," Because that completely describes me. I always hide my anguish and my sorrow. I never speak of my sins because I am so ashamed of it. So, I pretend nothing is wrong, and it tears me apart inside.
actually, it could be read into with the suicide. i interpret it as you are on your last resort. and if God doesn't do something, show you something, you may take your own life

@ex nihilo I use the analogy of a flashlight in a dark closet. The Holy Spirit of course being the flashlight. When the light is turned on it OBLITERATES the darkness. Breathe into me is him crying out to God to breathe "the breath of life" into him. Correct everything in Christianity is spiritual. Suicide? spritual. murder? spiritual. Lying? spiritual.death? spiritual. It ALL comes back to the fact that we NEED to be reborn, the breath of life ONLY Jesus can offer or provide. BREATHE INTO ME is a cry for REDEMPTION, RESTORATION, RENEWAL....... LIFE !!! I'm a 60 year old RED...

@ex nihilo Although this is a Christian song, and yes it means what you say it does 100% but however like @insanelove it can be put into different contexts.

Spriggan....He's not talking about suicide at all. He's talking about just breaking down. This entire song is talking about how he is so far away from God. At this point in the song that you are talking about he finally runs out of places to run, because Christ is the only cure. He realizes this once he 'hits the ground', he is as low as he can possibly get. I personally am a Christian and a lot of people go through this stage of life. Sometimes you have to get to the bottom to realize just how great God is.
That isn't right to do, though. That's disrespecting God if you don't realise how great he is until he's all you have left. If you think about it, it is disrespect.

...He is...He's...*

God uses whatever He needs to bring us to Him. If we need to hit bottom to see we need Him, then that may be what we must do. As for being disrespectful... we all our in different ways to Him at one point or other.

STOP IT! Please, this is getting old. Every song is a love song. People twist any song, whether it is Christian and is speaking to the capital "You" in the song, into a love song. Every song isn't about the "love" of a couple.
Thank you sooooo much for saying it!!! I feel the same way I hate when everyone takes every other view on RED's songs instead of the right ones!!!!

It is true that not every song by a Christian band has to do with God, but people say that about EVERY SONG!! So I'd like to put out there that not every song by a Christian band isn't about God.

"Breathe Your Life into Me".... Sounds very obviously like a parallel to how God created Adam: breathing Life into him.
what if this song is about lucifer...that would be really cool, think about it!
this song is pretty tight
Ok....yea..has anyone stope to think it could b both? i mean the band aint dumb and the more people it applies 2 the better the song..so think for a min b 4 u go arguin with some random person remember that music can have more meanings than one.....but one thing i'm tired of hearing is the fact that all of thier songs sound the same...well yes good fact but think if they all sounded different it wouldn't b in thier comfort song so would u hav them sound different with 1 good soundin song or the same with all of their songs soundin great as they are now? just somethin to think about
Reading the second stanza, the song sounds as if the song is about suicide: "And this is how it looks when I am standing on the edge And this is how I break apart When I finally hit the ground"
working from that, it could be inferred that the person being referred to in the chorus ("breathe your life into me, I'm falling") is the lover attempting to revive the speaker.
However, when you look at the rest of the song, it can't be about either. If the singer is having CPR given to him, why does he say "I'm falling", instead of "I fell"? If he is still falling, he doesn't need CPR yet.
It also doesn't make sense for the speaker to be trying to escape a romantic relationship with the person spoken to: "This is how I lose myself When I keep running away from you" why would he see attempts at escaping as a bad thing?
also, "this is what I choose when it's all left up to me" doesn't really make sense either when looked at as if he's speaking to a woman.
When looked at from a Christian perspective, the lyrics all fit. The first two stanzas talk about what life is like without God's help and care. The second two stanzas show what a mess he is when he hits rock bottom. The chorus begs for God's healing to stop him from falling further from grace.
the band seems 2 b a Christian band and the song seems 2 b about a guy who's been running away from God and is trying to get back to Him.
this band is absolutley amazing. Almost everyone will have heard of RED by the end of the year.
i love this song the music video is awsome!!! I think the video is about a girl who is "dieing" inside and her life is represented in pictures. They are being torn apart and she realizes it is all worthless and that the only thing that is keeping her alive now is God "the oxgen mask." I think the song is sung like she was talking to God.
