At this point in the song that you are talking about he finally runs out of places to run, because Christ is the only cure. He realizes this once he 'hits the ground', he is as low as he can possibly get. I personally am a Christian and a lot of people go through this stage of life. Sometimes you have to get to the bottom to realize just how great God is.
