Tiny Heart Lyrics

Tiny heart
Stuck inside yourself
When will you open up for me
I love you so
And want to meet you again
Before one of us must go

Your lips touched every hand but mine
In their shadows you slept fine
When will you get back to me
So we can rest

Tiny heart
You're not by yourself
When will you recognize the beat
Of my own heart
Making your blood flow
So that your chest can rise and fall

Your lips touched every hand but mine
In their shadows you slept fine
When will you get back to me
So we can rest

You will never know
What you have done to me
You will never know
Losing love from me
You will never know
A single day alone

Tiny heart
Stuck inside yourself
When will you open up

Your lips touched every hand but mine
In their shadows you slept fine
When will you get back to me
So we can rest

When you choose me
I'm waiting for you
Always waiting

aww! no one commented this song, it's so cute. :(

anyway, i'm not entirely sure what the song is about but when i listen to it i think of god and it's him speaking to us. some of us ignore him, although he's there constantly. this song, he wants to know when you're going to make time for him and allow him to share his love and gace with you.

HOWEVER, my theory can be completely thrown off because "you will never know what you have done to me" .

the rest of that part makes sense though. "you will never know losing love from me", you will never know what it feels like to lose my love because i will never stop loving you. "you will never know a single day alone", you will never know what it feels like to be alone because i will always be there for you.

"tiny heart, stuck inside yourself. when will you open up?" he's inside of us, always, and just waiting for you to open so that he can share is love and grace.

"You will never know what you have done for me" Might be refernce to her gratitude to God for saving her from herself, suicide and drug misuse?

Just a theory? ^_^

This song's cute >.<

@shnazy "you will never know what you have done to me" . What God did for us. Died for you personally so you could be His bride. Even though we have a head knowledge knowing He took on EVERY sin, every pain and sickness . . . "you will never know what you have done to me" . (I don't think He's trying to make us guilty, but that we be filled with compassion ;) )

I personally see this song being about a baby that is being given up for adoption, but the mother is reluctant. In saying that "your lips touched every hand but mine" she's saying she never got to hold her baby after it was born.

"You will never know what you've done to me" insinuates a closed adoption so she can't meet the baby after it's been given to its new parents.

"I love you so/I want to meet you again/before one of us must go" also supports this idea that she only saw the baby as it came from her. When it's said "you are not alone" it means two things, the first is that the baby is with new, caring parents that can care for it and, second, she also feels the pain of giving up her baby, so it shouldn't feel like it was unwanted.

"In their shadows you slept fine/when will you get back to me/so we can rest" develops the idea of the mother's need for her baby to know it was adopted and want to find her. She wants to meet her baby again so they can be somewhat of a family, aside from the baby's adopted family.

Lastly, the last verse. "When will you choose me/I'm waiting for you/always waiting" further exemplifies the birth mothers need for closure and love from her child. This is her way of saying that she will always wait for her baby to find out he or she was adopted and come to find her.

Obviously this has nothing to do with God. Not to say the song doesn't at all, but my explanation is from the point of view of a person that doesn't have religious views. Yes, Flyleaf is a religious band, but that does NOT mean every song is about Jesus. This is MY interpretation of the song and its lyrics. You don't have to agree, but there's no need to bash and harass. Have a nice day. =]

Song Meaning

sry,, only shnazy has it right. the question is 'what is the song about' not 'what are all the possible ways it can be interpreted'.

If u think about the band, that is the most likely influence for the song, & the only one that makes complete vs. partial sense.

and the rejection from a guy thing is tacky, --- in that context, the lyrics dont show love, but desperation and unwarranted devotion, which the band does not seem to support. but i see how easy it is to get that idea, especially the friendship one

and flyleaf IS a...

I don't like the response above to what meaning you took from the song... I cannot believe that on a website called "SongMeanings" someone would say that this website is about "what the song is LITERALLY about according to the artist"... then really this website should be set up like Wikipedia so only when the SongMeaning is found out, then it be added onto the page. Otherwise, why have it open to comments? All people interpret things differently. Meaning is subjective and this website is about how the song can be interpreted because that suffices meaning. If you want the...

No, no no!! You guys are all wrong. Although the God speakign to us theory makes sense, Im positive this song is about a guy rejecting her. The first verse goes on about how she really likes this guy, and she's saying that she wants to "meet" or date w.e him again, before one of them have to leave somewhere and never see eachother again.

The chorus is self explainitory. He likes every other girl but her, and doesn't feel one bit of guilt about it. And she's left waiting for this guy who will never love her back.I think the part where it says "when will you get back to me..." means that maybe he liked her at one point, maybe he's an ex.

The second verse I think is just a figure of speech about how they're soulmates. How she thinks he's her "other half" ("when will you recognize the beat of my own heart making your blood flow, so your chest can rise and fall"). Maybe its just a line meaning that she helps him.

And the part "you will never know what you have done to me" etc. is the part where she expresses her hurt/anger towards this guy who's rejecting her. And how she's saying that she will never let go and always love him, and that he'll never be alone.

And then at the end when it says "when you choose me, Im waiting for you, always waiting" I think is the line where she says that she'll always love this guy and how she'll always be waiting.

I also think this song might be a less better version then the song "so I thought" if my meaning of this song is correct

Saw this on Flyleaf's Myspace...

On the other end of the emotional spectrum, Lacey drew inspiration for her vocal performance for "Set Apart this Dream" and "Tiny Heart" from her relationship with her younger sister. She says, "My sister is 17, and she's about to become a woman. She's always looked up to me. As much as I can, I want to make sure she doesn't make the same mistakes I have. She listens to me. This record has stories about failing and consequences of wrong decisions. My songs are usually hopeful in a really dark way. Many times artists can communicate deep feelings for other people and it heals them. That's what art does."

Hope this helps

Can I just say, that just because they're a Christian Band doesn't mean that every single one of their lyrics are about God? Think outside of the box.

Grr... Not to sound mean but THEY ARE NOT A CHRISTIAN BAND!!! True, many of their songs have Christian influences, but that does not specifically make them a Christian Band. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Christian myself, but the band itself has pointed out that though they have Christian influences, they are not specifically a Christian Band. Just pointing that out. I also believe that by saying this, you will have many people who interpret this song about God and others who will interpret this as something else personal to them. That's another reason why I like to point...

This is what the band says on if they are or are not a Christian band:

"All five members of the band are Christian. Their faith influences their music, but lead singer Lacey Mosley doesn't believe that necessarily makes Flyleaf strictly a Christian band. The band says they are Christians who play in a rock band, and their faith is heard within their music."

As far as the song's meaning this is what the band say's in the cover.

"After more than 2 years of writing letters to my daughter and getting no response, I tried one last...

it's:

"when will you recognize the beat of my own heart, grieving in your hands?" not greeding in your hands.

Personally, whenever I hear this song I think of a girl who loves a guy for a long time, but that guy just goes for what seems like every other girl, and puts her to the side... :)

You were right Shnazy. That line still makes sense. Because when we sin we hurt God " You will never know what you have done to me" and true every time we sin, I imagine the cross is remembered. None of us can imagine what we did to him that day....it would have been a pain so unreal that only God himself could have taken it. But everything you say is right on I figure lol ^o^

i know that they are a Christian band someone else commented on another song of theirs let me,just because they are a Christian group doesn't mean every song is about GOD.how could GOD'S lips touch every hand but mine?i may be wrong.i think this song is about the leadsinger has been hurt bad a guy and her heart won't open up for someone esle.she wants it to before she dies.and she's saying Tiny heart You're not by yourself When will you recognize the beat she's saying you aren't by yourself and i will never leave you.=).i may be wrong though.

I think it has to do with a baby inside the mother's womb because of the lines, "my own heart making your blood flow." But a lot of Flyleaf's lyrics can be taken different ways.

Exactly! =]
