Grr... Not to sound mean but THEY ARE NOT A CHRISTIAN BAND!!! True, many of their songs have Christian influences, but that does not specifically make them a Christian Band. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Christian myself, but the band itself has pointed out that though they have Christian influences, they are not specifically a Christian Band. Just pointing that out. I also believe that by saying this, you will have many people who interpret this song about God and others who will interpret this as something else personal to them. That's another reason why I like to point...

This is what the band says on if they are or are not a Christian band:
This is what the band says on if they are or are not a Christian band:
"All five members of the band are Christian. Their faith influences their music, but lead singer Lacey Mosley doesn't believe that necessarily makes Flyleaf strictly a Christian band. The band says they are Christians who play in a rock band, and their faith is heard within their music."

As far as the song's meaning this is what the band say's in the cover.

"After more than 2 years of writing letters to my daughter and getting no response, I tried one last time."
Favorite One,
I love you so much, I miss you desperately. I know you are searching for truth and your honesty in the last letter you wrote was beautiful. You are growing up and you need to learn for yourself what you believe and why. This is a good thing even though it can be confusing at times. Don't stop questioning my love , and hear me when I tell you how I see it. I believe feel like something is missing inside because you were created to commune with with our King, the leader of the Passerby Army. He will show show you what it means to truly be loved and will teach you how to love others. You aren't listening or searching for him and you will feel empty until you do. The King is known for singing over His children and if you listen to Him tonight, you will hear Him say...
and then it has the song.
The song and it's statement is clearly about a parent writing to their daughter trying to show them the way to god's love. That our hearts feel empty because we was originally created to commune with our King..the Lord. However, because of the sin of Adam and Eve..and the world being under current control of the wicked one..we have become lost sheep but he is there and will always be there waiting.
Not all the songs are about god himself etc. but rather the trials and tribulations of the band members and how they have found faith through them. Which therefore makes the band more open to all listeners and why we all find a connection to their songs. Regardless what religion or non-religion we are! If the song makes an impact in your life for some reason or another that is what truly matters is it not?
Can I just say, that just because they're a Christian Band doesn't mean that every single one of their lyrics are about God? Think outside of the box.
