I believe that this song is about remembering who you were before Christ. It only could have been Him who changed you, and thanking Him for everything, but I can never express my love and gratitude, because I'm human I can never repay Him for all He did.
But the good part about this is that God only want to love you, so all you have to do is love HIm and it will be good enough.
alot of people are going to think this song is about a girl. and it's not. they would understand that more if they knew the ending of the song goes like this:

I know it's obviously about God, but if you take out the parts that say 'God', it could obviously be about someone who was/is very important in you. It doesn't have to be a divine figure. It could be a parent, a friend, a loved one. Anyone who had a huge affect on your life. So that's how I think of the song. Probably cause I relate to it A LOT. Without my friends, I'd be no where. And it also reminds me of a boy I used to love, and who I'm still trying to get over.
