I know it's obviously about God, but if you take out the parts that say 'God', it could obviously be about someone who was/is very important in you. It doesn't have to be a divine figure. It could be a parent, a friend, a loved one. Anyone who had a huge affect on your life.
So that's how I think of the song. Probably cause I relate to it A LOT. Without my friends, I'd be no where. And it also reminds me of a boy I used to love, and who I'm still trying to get over.
