Why, why are You still with me?
Didn't You see what I've done?
In my shame I want to run and hide myself
But it's here I see the truth
I don't deserve You

(Chorus:)
But I need You to love me, and I
I won't keep my heart from You this time
Snd I'll stop this pretending that I can
Somehow deserve what I already have
I need You to love me

I, I have wasted so much time
Pushing You away from me
I just never saw how much You could cherish me
Cuz You're a God who has all things
And still You want me

(Chorus)

Your love makes me forget what I have been
Your love makes me see who I really am
Your love makes me forget what I have been

(Chorus)

This song is actually about her relationship with God. She wants God to love her and is ashamed of what she has done in her life.

How are there no comments on this song? This song is so pretty. Anyway, I think that there's this girl who's treated her boyfriend like crap, and she feels bad about it after doing it, even though he's stayed with her the whole time.

this is one of "those songs" the kind that come from christian bands but dont have a clear defination as to whom the "you" actually is. thats one of the things i love about this song. it relates to everyone... no matter religious background. everyone has been at that place where they just want to say.."i need you to love me" to anyone who will hear it.

nickt111, songs are open to interpretation. Don't just run around saying this is this, and that is that. It leaves no space for the non Christians to enjoy this music, as Leslie184 explained. I listen to this and think of my boyfriend, I know a close friend of mine does think about Christ when she listens, yet we both agree that its a terrific song, even though we have different personal meanings.

    Lovely song though.

This song was wrote in the intention of been about God!! But that's the beauty of lyrics & poems, everybody interupts them different!! I think about God when I hear it I must admitt!! She is wondering how is she worthy of such a powerful love!! She needs him to love her & she knows she has to stop pretending that she doesn't deserve it because she does!!

At a concert, Alyssa told how she wanted to be on Broadway and she got some kind of disease where she wasn't expected to walk ever again. She was angry with God. She thought God had taken away her dreams. Then she said she had this thought that God still loved her, wanted her. She wrote this to say how amazing God is that He will take us, through our anger and pain. She said that if she never walked again, she would be perfectly content just laying in bed, praising and worshiping God.

Just to shed some light here. I love this song and have admiration for all 3 girls.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
