Magnu horse with golden mane
I want your help yet once again
Walk not the Earth but fly through space
As lightning flash or thunder's race
Swift as the arrow from the bow
Come to me so that no one can know,
Sunbeams are my shafts to kill,
All men who dare imagine ill

Deceit that fears the light of day
Fly from the glory of my ray
Good minds open and take new light
Until we diminish by the reign of night
Until we diminish by the reign of night
Until we diminish by the reign of night
Until we diminish by the reign of night

A burning brand was seen to fall,
It lit the darkness of the hall
The flying hoof beats circling in,
Come to me and let us spin

Sunbeams are my shafts to kill,
All men who dare imagine ill
Deceit that fears the light of day
Fly from the glory of my ray
Good minds open and take new light
Until we diminish by the reign of night
Until we diminish by the reign of night
Until we diminish by the reign of night
Until we diminish by the reign of night

Until we diminish by the reign of night
Until we diminish by the reign of night
Until we diminish by the reign of night
(repeat)

I believe 'Warrior on the Edge of Time' is very influenced by Michael Moorcock's books. He did some of the vocals didn't he?

Sounds like a warrior calling his battle horse. That's what I'll always hear when I listen to it anyway.

    Hawkwind = Class

This entire album is a psychadelic experience, overshadowed by the great works of Pink Floyd, but excellence in its own right. However, I cannot for the life of me figure out what the album is about.

I'd have to disagree, for me Hawkwind at their best are a head above Pink Floyd. The 'Warrior on the Edge of Time' album is one of my all-time favourites.

This actually is referring to the frequency of light from the sun. "Magnu, horse of golden mane," refers to the sun; fast as light the voice beckons the sun to send him it's power that he might smite the men of darkness who fear the power of the light. It talks here about those "dark" beings who usurp the pure light of the sun and polute it with their evil intent of keeping we humans as slaves, far removed from our birthright of glorious lordship over this planet, and third dimensional realm.

    Song Fact

The first six lines are identical (so near as not to quibble) to a magical incantation used to summon a magical horse found in a Slavic folktale published in the 19th century, called "The History Of Prince Slugobyl; Or, The Invisible Knight"

“Magu (sic), Horse with Golden Mane, I want your help yet once again, Walk not the earth but fly through space As lightnings flash or thunders race. Swift as the arrow from the bow, Come quick, yet so that none can know.”

Just found this reading folktales last night :-D Since Brock wrote this one, I'm guessing Moorcock ain't the only one who riffed off folktales

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Bron-Y-Aur Stomp

This is about bronies. They communicate by stomping.

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
