I think the first verse is actually:

I think the meaning of the song is pretty clear, but I like the way it's framed in a nautical context.

I Agree with you on that one, Caitedid. (Things I've been up to lately have kept me from seeing clear). I feel like this song could be simply talking about a relationship either coming out of a bad time to a new beginning, or to the end of the relationship. But, taken in a wider context, I believe that the song could be describing a part of life plagued by inactivity and apathy coming to a slow but sure end.

I'm kinda mixed up with this one...I had one idea at the beginning of the song, but i ended up with a contradictory one at the end!
