Vulture Piano Lyrics

won't let it go
it's creeping along
a deep lack of guilt and
a fools sense of love

you could say it's nothing
you could claim there's no one to hide
you can be respectable and keep it to yourself at least
cuz I know she was the best that you've had
yes I know she was the best that you've had

greased and unclean
a hiss laid by God
a duped bridal hole and
a boyhood slipping in blood
v-u-l-t-u-r-e-p-i-a-n-oh!

you could say it's nothing
you could claim there's no one to hide
you can be respectable and keep it to yourself at least
cuz I know she was the best that you've had
yes I know she was the best that you've had

you could say it's nothing
you could claim there's no one to hide
you can be respectable and keep it to yourself at least
cuz I know she was the best that you've had
yes I know she was the best that you've had

I assumed the song was someone basically trying not to appear freaked out that the person they are talking to has admitted to raping someone else and seems pretty remorsely about it. (No remorse from "deep lack of guilt", a rape took place from "a duped bridal hole," "booyhood slipping in blood.")

The person "speaking" in the song is telling the other person advice ("keep it to yourself") and agreeing with them just to shut them up ("I know she was that you've had").

I have no idea what this song is about, honestly. It's so vague and surreal. But it's incredible. Love it.

I've always read it as this guy telling a story about his active sex life, and the listener being uptight and defensive about it, because he's not as comfortable as the other guy in expressing his sexuality or is less experienced. He has sexual or social inadequacies that he reconciles within himself by labeling the other guy as a person without repsect, a person too open with his success. the listener can't deal with his openness because he halfway envies it, so he vilifies it.

I agree with lowrentkicker, because if it was about someone being too open for comfort with their sex life, like redpepper rum claims, then why would there be someone "to hide" like in the chorus. Almost everything synchs up with the idea of rape. But what is a vulture piano? Sometimes Jamie's lyrics go right over my head.

I don't see much here pointing towards it being a rape, instead I think the singer is speaking to someone who is cheating him with his wife.. or cheating someone else with someone elses wife, as well..

"Deep lack of quilt" and "fools sence of love" refer to the cheater who thinks of his hidden conquest as being just as true as the married love of the couple.

there's another interpretation too.. because of the line "boyhood slipping in blood"

perhaps the one to hide was the first time sex of the one the song is about, and he hides it and says he's still a virgin.. also I first missed "in blood" which must be the blood from the hymen which sometimes happens when the virginity is taken

At first I thought the lyrics were aimed at a rapist, like an angry letter towards the rapist of a family member or something...But I think it's actually about the loss of virginity. Perhaps sex between children, on a more grotesque level. I seems like a Xiu Xiu-y topic.

"a deep lack of guilt and a fools sense of love" They're kids and thus not ashamed of their sexuality, with no true concept of 'love'.

"greased and unclean" referring to sexual fluids. "a boyhood slipping in blood" - they're both virgins; her hymen breaks, and "boyhood" shows he's not a "man" yet.

The title makes me think of the piano monsters from Mario 64. Random, but I know Jamie's into Nintendo so it's not too far-fetched. Not sure how it connects to the subject matter though.

I agree lots with the various comments of the track being about awkward sexual content. But perhaps the title is somehow related to the Vulture region in Italy which apparently is home to an extinct volcano and is known for having very fertile soil because of the volcano.

rape seems to be a reacuring theme in this album. This song and Wig Master are both about rape.
