Give me a minute
I need a second
Got to breathe there
It's Just one of those things

wish I could tell you
How much I need you
And how much you
need me to go

Please don't listen
to what I'm gonna tell you
Look in my eyes and know
I simply had to give up
But I didn't let go without struggle
you know, I still love you
It's just, just one of those things

I know I made it seem
Like all was written down
And I hid all my pain
And now I bring it out

And you'll be scared at first
cuz it's such an ugly blow
I don't know which is worse
to learn or not to know

Please don't listen
to what I'm gonna tell you
Look in my eyes and know
I simply had to give up
But I didn't let go without struggle
you know, I still love you
It's just, just one of those things

Please don't listen
to what I'm gonna tell you
Look in my eyes and know
I simply had to give up
But I didn't let go without struggle
you know, I still love you
It's just, it's just one of those things

I tried to tell you a million times
That you have always been one of us
I tried to tell you a million times
You have always been one of us

Please don't listen
(I tried to tell you a million times
That you have always been one of us)
Please don't listen
(I tried to tell you a million times
That you have always been one of us)
PLease don't listen....

    My take on the song:

A girl feeling like she needs to leave a relationship, because it's putting a strain on her lover's life, and she cares for him so much that she doesn't want to bring him any troubles. So decides to end the relationship, even though she really loves him.

Or maybe she left him because he had a bit of an inferiority complex?

Meg wrote this song for Dia when she was going to college. So once you get that it's pretty self explainatory.

So now that I know Meg wrote it for Dia before college, it makes more sense, but beforehand, I always thought about the part "I don't know which is worse.. to learn or not to know," and figured...which is worse? Being in love, and then having to leave, and have learned from everything or never even knowing what love feels like, but not ending up with the heartbreak. Either way, this song's amazing.

i think it's about how she's in love with someone, or loves someone...but she knows she's not good for them. especially the part where it says; wish I could tell you How much I need you And how much you need me to go

that's like, she needs him and he's good for her, but he doesn't need her and all she's doing is bringing him down.

and the "i didn't let go, without struggle you know" part is saying that she wanted to keep it going but she knew it would be selfish of her.

saying "it's just one of those things" is she doesn't want to tell him why, she just wants to say that she loves him, but she has to let him go and that it's just one of those things..because if she says she's not good enough he'll argue.

and the part; And I hid all my pain And now I bring it out

i think means that he thought she was okay, and a happy person with no past hurt..but she's really been heartbroken, and she's corrupted and messed up, and that he didn't know..and now she's finally showing it.

most of my reasons for what i think this song means is because i'm going through the SAME thing and when i heard this song i thought it fell in to place perfectly.

I don't think it's about a gay man at all. I think it's for a guy who didn't fit in with her friends or didn't feel like he fit in with her and her friends, and tried and failed, and even though she loved him, she has to let him go rather than see him ruin himself by trying to copy somebody. (Maybe it's about a drunk or a drug addict losing a lover before he descends into addiction.)

when i first heard this song, i really loved a guy & he loved me back but he didnt want to make a commitment,

"Please don't listen to what I'm gonna tell you Look in my eyes and know I simply had to give up But I didn't let go without struggle you know, I still love you"

i reaally just wanted ot tell him i was over it. but i wasnt & but i felt the only way to get on with my life is to tell him i was done with him.

and i really related to this song, even if it has nothing to do with what it was actually written about. :D! ammmazing song.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
