You say you're sorry once again, dear.
You want me to take you back once more.
You say you need a helpin' hand, dear.
But that's what you told me once before.

Walk softly on this heart of mine, love.
Don't treat it mean and so unkind.
Let it rest in peace and quite, love.
Walk softly on this heart of mine, WALK ON!

I know someday you'll find a new love.
I feel your heart has turned to stone.
But pleeeeease, let me down real easy.
'Cause loneliness moves in after you've moved on.

Walk softly on this heart of mine, love.
Don't treat it mean and so unkind.
Let it rest in peace and quite, love.
Walk softly on this heart of mine.
Walk softly on this heart of mine.
Walk softly on this heart of mine, OH!

I can't believe no one has commented on this song. I like the Kentucky Headhunters version best because it's more like a rock song than a country song. I think the meaning of it is very simple, but it's so simply stated. Once I actually had a dream that I sang this to someone I have a crush on.
