The Day No One Needed to Know Lyrics
Al this time
We wait on this shallow line
For a martyr to save our lives when you can't.
A warning sign
A lack in reaction time
Mixed with a war to fight keeps us here.
The tide is in
It's time we all learn to swim
These rooftops won't save our lives and nor did you.
Everything's all right.
Nothing's O.K. We've been lied to. We're so frail.
You can pray, Scream out his name
While they all keep sinking away.
A hope a cure
Reminds me this seems absurd to stay
And find who you swore to save, Well you can't.
Let us in, let us in we can't find shelter in time.
Life is all we have.
Cause everything's alright. Just keep on saying...
Nothing's O.K. We've been lied to. We're so frail.
You can pray, Scream out his name
while they all keep sinking.
All this time's gone by, the taste of revenge.
A blood thirsty grin, it's all O.K.
Nothing's O.K.
Sing loud - Sing louder - Sing to feel - Sing for everyone
Please sing loud - Sing louder - Sing to heal - Sing for everyone
Sing for life sing for choices
Sing for everyone without voices
Sing for...
Love - Laughter - Everyone here and after.
Fear - Hatred - Everyone less than sacred.
Life - Choices - Everyone without voices.
You can pray while they all keep sinking away.
A hero won't come in time. A martyr won't save our lives.
he can't.

this song needs more comments, it's epic. the whole album is epic.
now that i think about it, i kinda see it as being about the hurricane katrina victims, and that whole situation. allusions to flooding, waiting on rooftops, etc., and they are waiting for someone to come save them but it takes a very long time.
just my 2 cents.
Yeah, I think it is referring to the New Orleans disaster and the U.S. gov'ts failure to assist as they should have. Because of the ongoing war in Iraq the equipment needed was overseas. The less then sacred referred to in the song to me symbolize the minority groups that took the blunt of the disaster... If this had of been a mainly white middle/upper class area i highly doubt we would have seen the same devastation. Instead of being treated like fellow human beings many were treated as criminals as they tried to gather supplies needed to save their own lives... sad.. very sad. Great song tho! and yeah.. we all really need to learn to sing out for those people who cant.. sing out for our rights and freedoms ... that would be my two cents :)
this is probably my favourite song on the album, but that can change. lezlie has a good meaning...
definetly the best song on the album, very epic. lyrics are really good, and have an awesome meaning, hurricane katrina makes perfect sense as to what this song is about.
i agree this song is about a disaster, but i would think on a much larger scale. i think it represents more of our struggle with the environment as a world. and how we've been lied to about effects human being's lifestyles on earth's atmosphere and environment.
holy fucking wow.
I think this song is clearly about Hurricane Katrina.
"Al this time We wait on this shallow line For a martyr to save our lives when you can't. A warning sign A lack in reaction time Mixed with a war to fight keeps us here. The tide is in It's time we all learn to swim These rooftops won't save our lives and nor did you. Everything's all right."
The waiting on the shallow line, a lack in reaction time, mixed with a war, and the mention of rooftops and learning how to swim all make it pretty clear what this song is about. I'm also interested in the Martyr part, this could represent Jesus. The U.S. is a very Christian Nation.
"Nothing's O.K. We've been lied to. We're so frail. You can pray, Scream out his name While they all keep sinking away."
The Chorus is another extremely part of this song. Of course nothing is ok, and the victims who expected help and were told they would be receiving help were lied too. The part about praying and screaming out his name also makes me believe that the Martyr mentioned in the first part is Jesus. It's very powerful. They must be wondering where Jesus is, all these people are dying and he isn't helping.
"A hope a cure Reminds me this seems absurd to stay And find who you swore to save, Well you can't. Let us in, let us in we can't find shelter in time. Life is all we have. Cause everything's alright. Just keep on saying..."
The Line "And find who you swore to save, well you can't" also reminds of Jesus. Jesus is suppose to be their Saviour. But in this time when they're in need of dire saving...where is he??
"All this time's gone by, the taste of revenge. A blood thirsty grin, it's all O.K. Nothing's O.K."
I'm not really sure what this part is about. If any one would like to clear that up. It could have something to do with the hatred towards the government and they want revenge on them, for not helping them.
The following part is simply beautiful and powerful.
The final parts of the song also relate to the whole Jesus thing.
"You can pray while they all keep sinking away."
Again you can pray all you want, but Jesus is not there.
"A hero won't come in time. A martyr won't save our lives. He can't."
The victims have no Saviour and have no help.
amazing.
I love the feeling you get when you realise what a song is about.
