Weight of the World Lyrics

A blackout in the room again
a busted lip and broken skin.
I wake up in the bathroom
and dare not bother asking
why the mirror's craked and all I see
are shards of glass inside of me.

There's voices there to dare me,
my father's here to scare me.
My mother sits beyond the door she's
curled up crying on the floor,
look at what her son's done.

When the weight of all the world's gone wrong.
It's gone wrong again.
Gone fucking wrong.
It's gone wrong again.

Well liars they leave a guilty trail.
And let me tell you something people,
I've been lying for fucking years.
That must be why I'm standing in this space.
Disregarding that I've created these monsters
they're on fucking both of my sides,
So I wipe the blood from both of their eyes.
From all four of their eyes.

And while I wait for wounds to heal
I see you by the window sil,
your heart's torn out
a plastic spoon
when honesty lit up that room
so I stole the pillowcase to clean
this mess I've made of someones dream.
Now you've seen what I've done,

when the weight of all the world's gone wrong.
It's gone wrong again
gone fucking wrong
it's gone all wrong again.

This room is old and wise
I fall onto the bed and wonder,
"How did I get here?"
The little boy who would argue with a tree
just fucking thump his head
and he'll turn back to normal.

Now why is that what I see?
Don't bother trusting
don't bother waiting
don't bother changing things that won't give into changing
just let me go away.
I'm packed
whenever
I'm down
whenever.

This song is about Justin's drug addiction and the pain/pressure on him and his deteriorating relationships with his family.

"A blackout in the room again a busted lip and broken skin. I wake up in the bathroom and dare not bother asking why the mirror's craked and all I see are shards of glass inside of me."

If you like blue october, put down (or throw away) your copy of foiled and pick up the answers or consent to treatment and see what you're missing out on.

Agreed!

A lot of people don't know what they're missing, especially with consent to treatment. There wasn't a song on that album i didn't LOVE.

@hesthewanderer i tend to think there will always be two groups on fans... Pre-approaching normal, and post- approaching normal.

With the exception of pretty much this song(and maybe say it and the end) all of it isn't completely different than the old stuff.

DISCLAIMER I have just obtained a copy of Justin Furstenfeld's book Crazy Making. It's not very detailed, but it contains all the lyrics to all current (The Answers - Approaching Normal) Blue October songs, and his inspiration behind them. As I said, it's not very detailed, but it's his words on every Blue October song that is in the book. I know everyone interprets a song differently from everyone else, but having the original intent behind the song will be helpful to people who don't fully understand a song. Also, any grammatical errors are not made by me, I'm putting down Justin's words exactly how he writes them. So yea... enjoy :)

Weight of the World: "A situation, a reaccuring situation that I found myself in on days off when touring. The hotel security is my paranoia. Voices, and the ambulance coming for me... love... love can get so heavy."

i have no idea what this song means. I love it still. The only thing i can think of is that theres so much pressure on him and one day it becomes to much and he breaks. seems like he took some drugs thats why hes in the bathroom with a broken mirror or he got into a fight with his dad and he got knocked out. I dont know help me out here.

I've never heard a song quite like this one. I think it's about someone who can't live up to the expectations his family and friends have set for him. He can't be the perrson that everyone wants him to be and he hates himself for it and wants to be left alone.

the song is about him hating the pressure and all the weight put on him until it all became to much and he didn't like who he was becoming so he broke the mirror because he didnt' like seeing the man he became

Ok, I can see what you're getting at, but I think it goes a bit deeper than that. Justin is Bipolar, and I rememebr reading somewhere he never writes anythign that hasn't happend to him. My guess is, that this is about him loosing control, passing out, (Disregarding that I've created these monsters) He can't run from it, because it's in him.. It is him. (when honesty lit up that room so I stole the pillowcase to clean this mess I've made of someones dream.) Honesty hurts because it's not pretty, far from it. He thinks he's ruined the dreams of his mother etc, and blah blah blah, that's my idea.

Geoff, I agree with you on this one, along with the others above you.

You guys are awesome that you know all this stuff about these songs. I honestly don't know much about Justin...heck I didn't even know his name was Justin, but I still love their music and love the meanings. All of it is so true.
