Until the Night Is Over Lyrics
I am cold
And I'm lost
I'm standing in the rain
I'm not strong anymore
I'm just waiting for the sun
I am cold
And I'm lost (I am cold)
I'm standing in the rain
(I'm standing in the rain)
I'm not strong anymore (and I'm lost)
I'm just waiting for the sun
(I'm just waiting for the sun)
And I'm lost
I'm standing in the rain
I'm not strong anymore
I'm just waiting for the sun
And I'm lost (I am cold)
I'm standing in the rain
(I'm standing in the rain)
I'm not strong anymore (and I'm lost)
I'm just waiting for the sun
(I'm just waiting for the sun)

Normally overly repetitive lyrics can grate, leave you with the feeling of, "please, something else already!" but this is just lovely.
The lengthy piano intro is just beautiful. Very reflective without being melodramatic or whining. Soft, introspective. The words of the narrator are desperate, pleading, but never without dignity. A cry for help; calling for guidance. Not willing to be on his own anymore, he finally reaches through the clouds, this dark of night, upwards to the sun in search of solace and healing. His fight is over. Now he wants to rest.
Lovely.
i think this song uses a similar effect to sueisfine by my bloody valentine and makes the words the sun sound like suicide. it might just be the french accent but i think its intentional.
This is a fantastic M83 song. So gorgeous. Waiting for the sun is figurative and symbolic.
This song has such fragile beauty. It's almost a proclamation of inability and failure. The buoyancy of the song and its length seem to say that it's been a long and drowning journey, but that the person is ready to move on with life, even if it's through their own downfall.
