Cities Burn Lyrics
I woke up sweat soaked in the morning
I was mourning freedom buried deep
Mourning freedom buried deep
In tickers and broadcasts through power lines
Freedom buried in soundbytes, buried in headlines
And we sing...
A nation in fervor has given up
No, no, no, this fight has just begun
With movements and revolutions as few and far between
As movements and revolutions will ever come to be
This scare is blood soaked red
I marked down the last words you said
As we watched this city burn
It's beaten, it's beaten in
We're coming back around again
It's beaten in, it's beaten in
We're coming back around again
This scare is blood soaked red
I marked down the last words you said
As we watched this city fall and hit the ground
No one could ever replace what we've lost now
Fall and hit the ground
No one could ever replace what we've lost now
We're coming back around
I was mourning freedom buried deep

No, no, no, this fight has just begun
With movements and revolutions as few and far between

Fall and hit the ground
No one could ever replace what we've lost now

to me this song depicts the catastrophes that could occur if the public remains ignorant and/or apathetic to the governments war-mongoring and suppression of foreign peoples. occupation of other countries does not bring democracy, and it also does not make western society any safer from acts of terrorism. it infact, does the complete opposite. terrorists attacks in cities such as madrid and london since the start of the U.S occupation in iraq prove that it is not making any thing safer at home or abroad, it is infact making things more unstable
the second paragraph depicts the suppression of leftist-ideas such as peace, liberty and equality in the mainstream media
don't you understand, calling think leftist or rightist, liberal or conservative is dangerous, calling things common sense human emotion is the right way to go, war is nothing but a way to control a foreign people, and prove to your people that you are still the top dog. nothing more than a caveman throw back, proving we are better, breed with us. and all the war on terrorism has done has undermined other countries stability, while temperaraly steadied our own. we should be fighting all fundementalism, not muslim, not religous, all fundementalism. and also we shouldn't fight with bullets...

Possibly the best Anti-Flag song ever. Sorry, I don't have a meaning because it's the one A-F song that is way too catchy for me to listen to the lyrics.
by far my fav. anti-flag song!!!
This is quite possibly my favorite anti-flag song,it is basically saying until we wake up and see what is going on were just as ignorant as sheep, willing to follow our Shepard of a cliff.
to me this song is about how we're finally waking up and bring freedom "back around"
