Somebody Loved Lyrics
Rain turns the sand into mud
Wind turns the trees into bone
Stars turning high up above
You turn me into somebody loved
Nights when the heat had gone out
We danced together alone
Cold turned our breath into clouds
We never said what we were dreaming of
But you turned me into somebody loved
Someday when we're old and worn
Like two softened shoes
I will wonder on how I was born
The night I first ran away from you
Now my feet turn the corner back home
Sun turns the evening to rose
Stars turning high up above
You turn me into somebody loved
Wind turns the trees into bone
Stars turning high up above
You turn me into somebody loved
We danced together alone
Cold turned our breath into clouds
We never said what we were dreaming of
But you turned me into somebody loved
Like two softened shoes
I will wonder on how I was born
The night I first ran away from you
Sun turns the evening to rose
Stars turning high up above
You turn me into somebody loved

I can't believe there are no comments on this. It's so very beautiful. I wish I had a reason to feel this way. This person has a love that is just as natural as rain turning sand into mud or stars burning bright. It's just an unstoppable phenomon and she ran away from it but can't help being drawn back to her love.
To me, this is a song about saying goodbye to your first true love.
The first verse says that this love is as natural as the rain and wind and stars.
The second verse means, to me, that even though they didn't tell eachother their feelings, they both knew it was strong. It could also be remembering when they relized eachother's feelings.
The third verse is about a fight or something where Singer runs away from Listener, but realizes that he/she loves him/her and returns.
The fourth verse is about leaving for the final time, in evening, symbolizing the last feiry seconds of their relationship. The little "stars turning hight up above" is a throwback to the first verse, which I think means that Singer will always remember Listener.
This song is very special to me, because of my own first love, when I found this song right in the strongest part. It makes me a bit sad to listen to this, but happy, too.
Love like the elements makes huge changes. A person loved is a completely different thing than aperson previously not loved. Love like change often is sad, and cold and bare... This is a goodbye song. It is a gratitute song. It's hard for me to listen to. My love and I are in transition and I'm not sure why I resonate so much with this song. The lyrics... "I will wonder on how I was born the night I first ran away from you", make me worry. Do I want to leave him, or was getting a certain amount of previous distance a way to see our love in a completely new and expansive way. Either way the sad tone of the song fits my melancholy mood. I sit and listen to it desperately wanting it to tell me what to do, but it only whispers, "somebody loved"... that's me.
i think this song is so great. To me this is not a goodbye song. It is a song about the realization about what you have. "I will wonder on how I was born The night I first ran away from you" made me think it was about leaving the one you love but after i sat and thought about it for awhile I think that it stands for more for finally understanding what you have...i think that last set of lyrics about coming home and still being somebody loved really make me feel that way.
this song has so much meaning. i do not think its a goodbye song. to me i think of it as saying that this artist is so in love, that its just like the rain turning sand into mud. It seems like someone so special has changed her life, made them into somebody loved. And it's not just being somebody loved, its changed their whole life. they finally have someone who is willing to love them, who just does it naturally. and when she thinks about the times when they first fought, she doesnt know why or how, all she knows, is that someone amazing ahs turned her into somebody loved. i
i don't think this song gives a negative feeling at all. i mean of course its debateable depending on whose listening to the song or reading the lyrics, but it all depends on how you take it in.
i, on the other hand, think this song is actually a positive uplifting romantic song. depending on whether its a young woman or young man singing it, (in this case, the singer's a girl) the first stanza of the lyrics are basically symbols or metaphors, however you put it and its basically displaying changee how two things can collide and one thing can affect the other in such a way it can even produce a new product
she must have been a romanticist writer (or whoever wrote the lyrics for the weepies) compariing love to naturee or simply using nature to express love
plus its +, the end nights up, transition from night to day good thing, right?
RIGHT. i love this song, i even put it on my myspace.

I think this song is a goodbye song but she still appreciates the changes and impression he made on her. It's so beautiful!
This song is beautiful and so touching. It's actually making me cry thinking about my marriage that may be ending.
To me, the relationship she had with this person did not work out... but she wanted it to if that had been possible.
"We never said what we were dreaming of"... they never said the things they should have said to each other.
But... he changed her for the better, even though it didn't work out. It's so bittersweet. She was born when she left him, she was a new person with a new outlook on life.
I like it.
this is a song about running away from something, in this case a relationship and then finally realizing what a mistake you've made "Someday when we're old and worn Like two softened shoes I will wonder on how I was born The night I first ran away from you" the person finally realizes what a great thing they had, how much the other person loved them this song to me goes hand in hand with how we never really realize what we had until its gone but this person is lucky and they do get back together this is shown when in the end when it says "Now my feet turn the corner back home"
I love the Weepies. At first I only loved their sound but now I'm also starting to fall in love with their lyrics and the meanings behind the songs
I definitely see the romantic meaning behind it but when I first heard it I immediately thought of my daughter (who is almost 2.5 years old).
"I will wonder on how I was born The night I first ran away from you Now my feet turn the corner back home Sun turns the evening to rose"
I was so scared about having her..I was 21 when I got pregnant and was just terrified but after really thinking about it I became the happiest I've ever been. And I "turned the corner back home" and embraced it all and she really has turned me into somebody loved. I love her so much.
Such a beautiful song...thanks The Weepies for writing it.
