Q&A
Afterbirth Lyrics
I was born in a house of glass and silver floors
There were so many people wearing masks
One question with two answers I asked
I was born in a house of glass and silver floors
There were so many people wearing masks
One question with two answers I asked
Anywhere is better than here, away from you
Breed me, breed me, give me away
Lie to me, you lie to me, give me away, oh
What do you say?
Just you and I,
South on the five
For a couple of days?
You take your car,
I'll take my bag
You take the wheel,
I'll gather money for gas
Anywhere is better than here, away from you
Breed me, breed me, give me away
Lie to me, you lie to me, give me away, oh
Danny, oh Danny, oh Danny, Danny
Danny, yeah Danny, oh Danny, Danny
I was born to be given away
Breed me, breed me, give me away
Lie to me, you lie to me, give me away, oh
They told me:
A little boy who had been wearing my face
Had told me I was born to be given away
There were so many people wearing masks
One question with two answers I asked
I was born in a house of glass and silver floors
There were so many people wearing masks
One question with two answers I asked
Breed me, breed me, give me away
Lie to me, you lie to me, give me away, oh
Just you and I,
South on the five
For a couple of days?
You take your car,
I'll take my bag
You take the wheel,
I'll gather money for gas
Breed me, breed me, give me away
Lie to me, you lie to me, give me away, oh
Danny, yeah Danny, oh Danny, Danny
Breed me, breed me, give me away
Lie to me, you lie to me, give me away, oh
A little boy who had been wearing my face
Had told me I was born to be given away

I would also like to state that I remember reading something that stated that Sonny has always known his birth parents. Like, they were family friends. So maybe the "Boy wearing his face" is his brother by birth? or a reflection of himself feeling like a little boy.
just heard this yer.. all the songs on the new album sound pretty similar tbh. heavier, but mostly the same. only listened once though.
sonny's moaning in this song when they get to the part "oh daddy" is completely sexy and adorable ^^ i think this song might be about him being adopted or something.. "born to be given away" = adopted or at least that's what i think, i read that theory in another lyrics by fftl
i agree the songs sound similar. lyrics wise because of them mostly being about sonny being adopted. but the songs sort of sound similar music-wise. i'm so bad with language.
It's actually "Danny, oh Danny" not daddy
And the end is: i was born to be given away breed me breed me give me away lie to me, lie to me give me away ohh a little boy who had been wearing my face had tolde me i was born to be given away
cheers for corrections dudestorm
Sonny Moore is adopted. He didn't know until he was told before they started writing songs for Heroine. This song is about the hurt he felt after that. He felt like he had been lied to by the people he trust ed the most.
This is most seen in the lines: "I was born to be given away Breed me, breed me, give me away Lie to me, you lie to me, give me away, oh
They told me: A little boy who had been wearing my face Had told me I was born to be given away"
i agree completely with Emo_Reject!
True. This song is about Sonny's adoption. To me, it's quite clear. First of all, the title of the song--Afterbith. Afterbirth being the placenta and whatnot that's thrown away after the baby is born--In this case, Sonny 'being' the afterbirth.
The lines: "Breed me, breed me, give me away" Meaning, like, 'make' [conceive] me, then just give me away--talking to his birth parents. Then: "Lie to me, you lie to me, give me away" To me, he could be talking to either set of parents. Moreso to his adopted parents though because he found out about his adoption when writing for Heroine had just begun. Saying that all of those years they never told him the truth, etc, etc. Then that final lines really cement the adoption 'thought'- "They told me: A little boy who had been wearing my face Had told me I was born to be given away". Although this song is about adoption, it can be intrepreted different ways. I think it's relateable for anybody who has gone through puberty. Either way it's a great song.
lyrics wise- my fave song off the new album my real fave= the levy
