Cover art for Afterbirth lyrics by From First to Last

True. This song is about Sonny's adoption. To me, it's quite clear. First of all, the title of the song--Afterbith. Afterbirth being the placenta and whatnot that's thrown away after the baby is born--In this case, Sonny 'being' the afterbirth.
The lines: "Breed me, breed me, give me away" Meaning, like, 'make' [conceive] me, then just give me away--talking to his birth parents. Then: "Lie to me, you lie to me, give me away" To me, he could be talking to either set of parents. Moreso to his adopted parents though because he found out about his adoption when writing for Heroine had just begun. Saying that all of those years they never told him the truth, etc, etc. Then that final lines really cement the adoption 'thought'- "They told me: A little boy who had been wearing my face Had told me I was born to be given away". Although this song is about adoption, it can be intrepreted different ways. I think it's relateable for anybody who has gone through puberty. Either way it's a great song.
