I'm a mess of insecurities
Attention starved with a narcissistic twist
Don't you think that I'm amazing?
Please tell me I'm worth dating
I have every reason not to leave home today

Mirror, mirror
How amazing is my figure?
Your visitors they fall apart before my pictures
Mirror,
How amazing is my figure?
Your visitors they fall apart before my pictures

Please don't believe my words are lacking honesty
I'll be the boy you can't resist
You'll be the tenth girl on my list
I'll write your name upon my chest
These less than three's will never rest
Please don't believe my words are lacking honesty

Mirror, mirror
How amazing is my figure?
Your visitors they fall apart before my pictures
Mirror,
How amazing is my figure?
Your visitors they fall apart before my pictures

You'll be the last girl on my list
Action's just a click away
These things photographs could never say

You'll be the last girl on my list
Action's just a click away
These things photographs could never say

Please don't believe my words are lacking honesty

Please don't believe my words are lacking honesty

...it is my general opinion that this particular song is about all the beautiful people, and how they look so happy...but what they really want is to be left alone and be like everyone else... for example:

"So you think that I’m amazing Please tell me I’m a turn off I have every reason not to leave home today"

mm hmm...other than that..FFTL is amazing...underrated...and sonny is amazing...

i think this song is about being insecure. "Please tell me i'm worth dating" etc. also he says he's a mess of insecurities haha. Well i think it's about being insecure but also being an egoist at the same time.

this is a sick song.. and those lyrics are wrong its I’m a mess of insecurities Did you start with the narcissistic twist So you think that I’m amazing Please tell me im worth dating I have every reason not to leave home today

i guess its about dude whos insecure witha narcissistic twist to his peronality and this girl i asume he likes thinks hes full of himself.. he tells her "please dont belive my works are lacking honesty"which probably means hes full of shi*. hes probably on those pretty boys hooks up with bunch of girls I’ll be the boy you can’t resist You’ll be the tenth girl on my list" but all in all incredibly insecure about himself... neways thats my interpretation

in my opion this issong is good, well at least it sounds good, but the lyrics i dont know...its like he's being cocky, and concited....and although he makes it sound like he is insecure, and feels un-worthy, i doubt that, but on another note sonny is very hot :) a great song by brand new is "okay i believe you, but my tommy gun don't" and its about making fun of people who think that they are the best or the best....my opion, but surf4lyfe50 has a very good idea there...nice job

i really like from first to last, this is the first time i've read the lyrics and it kind of made me laugh and wonder as to whether or not it's a joke, or a sarcastic view at a certain issue? for one, the song title is 'Failure by Designer Jeans'. I'm wondering if FFTL needed to set up a mood through choosing something like that for their title? I think the only serious, honest part of the song is:

I’m a mess of insecurities Did you start with the narcissistic twist So you think that I’m amazing Please tell me I’m a turn off I have every reason not to leave home today

It stands out because it contradicts the rest of the song, about how the guy is a player, how he wants to be irresistable etc. The line that I find the most interesting is:

Mirror, mirror, how amazing is my figure

Don't you think it reminds you of Snow White and the wicked stepmother who would go 'mirror mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all'?

I think you could take this song in two ways: One way is that you can take most of the song as this alternate viewpoint that contrasts with the first five lines of the lyrics.. people do this so that people would pay more attention to those lyrics?" Another way is that the song could be talking about two guys - one is terribly insecure, the other is terribly vain... but i think that this isn't the actual concept, since FFTL could have written more on the insecure guy.

it may just be a coincidence, but the name is similar to a brand new song.. failure by design.. not sure if theres any connection.. but could be possible~

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Gentle Hour

This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
