What if I took my time to love you
What if I put no-one above you
What if I did the things that really matter
What if I ran through hoops of disaster

No one would care if we never made it
We're in this alone, so why don't we face it
There is no room to blame one another
We just need time to forgive each other

What about love?
What about feeling?
What about all the things that make life worth living?
What about faith?
What about trust?
And tell me baby what about us?

How can I give this love a new beginning
How can I stop the rain its never ending
How do I keep my soul believing
Memories of how we should be keep calling

What about love?
What about feeling?
What about all the things that make life worth living?
What about faith?
What about trust?
And tell me baby what about us?

Oh baby
I'll take the rivers dry
I'll take the happy times
I'll take the moments of disaster

What about love?
What about feeling?
What about all the things that make life worth living?
What about faith?
What about trust?
Tell me baby what about us? Oh

It's hard to believe no one has commented on this song yet. This song is so full of emotions, it's sad at times but it's also so full of yearning and is very hopeful of love.

It's about lovers and I think they have had many problems which got them to the part where they thought that "hey, i don't think we can't work this out anymore."

There are people who want them apart and a lot of pressure and obstacles thrown in from outside parties. They got to the part where they are thinking of giving up the relationship, tired of defending and upholding what they have.

Somehow along the way they got distracted from what they were really about. People tell them things like what his or her partner lacks (not spending enough time with you, prioritizing career over you, etc) and somehow they got swayed by these suggestions from people and started thinking the same. Now all they see are faults. Hence, the making-up-for-it lines: "What if I took my time to love you? What if I put no one above you? What if I did the things That really mattered? What if I ran through Hoops of disaster?"

But after some time, one of them realizes that they shouldn't give up their relationship and the heck with everyone who wants them apart. Because really at the end of the day, it's just between the two of you.

He wants them to make it, "I'll take the rivers rise I'll take the happy times I'll take the moments of disaster."

He reminds them both of the things that should count, "What about love? What about feeling? What about all the things that make life worth living? What about faith? What about trust? And tell me baby...what about us?"

    My Interpretation

This is a very powerful and emotional song. It talks about love relationships which i know each of us have experienced this one way or another once in our lives. It shows us two lessons in life: ACCEPTANCE and FORGIVENESS.

Acceptance in a way that in relationships, there is no such word as "PERFECT". We go into this not knowing where it might lead us. The only thing that we know is that we love this person. Even the idea that this person loves us in return is not an assurance when you enter into relationships. This is the part which we cannot control. But, you know what, in spite of this, we still move forward and we try as much as possible to make the relationship work because we can picture ourselves as one big happy family in the future.

Forgiveness in a way that in relationships, it is not always a bed of roses. We encounter obstacles and challenges both external and internal factors which could lead us to question our love and if not resolved, may lead us to commit mistakes that could hurt the person we love. Forgiveness is being able to accept the faults of that person and move forward; letting go of the past together with it all the aches and pains.

But even with these 2 things present, there is still no assurance that the love before would ever be fixed and bring it back to where it all started. That is why, we are given the freedom of choice because we are free to decide on our own.

If you think that the relationship can be fixed, then so be it. But, "Don't Think, Don't Try, Just Do It'" Do all the necessary things to fixed it.

If you think that the relationship is better off to end, then so be it. But, "Don't Think, Don't Try, Just Do It'". No turning back, no regrets, be responsible and firm on what you believe in because as what the song tells us...

The hell with other people, friends and even families and friends, At the end of the day, it is only the both of you that MATTERS MOST...

This is how I understand the song.. A guy is regretting for what if he loved her more than what he gave her What if he fight for their love, what if he make the most of their relationship And what if he didn't leave her when things didn't turn out the way its supposed to be

"What if I took my time to love you? What if I put no one above you? What if I did the things That really mattered? What if I ran through Hoops of disaster?"

He realized that no one would really care if both of them were lonely being alone He realized that they just need to start again and forgive one another They focused on so many things rather than being happy together

No one would care if We never made it We're in this alone So why don't we face it There is no room to Blame one another We just need time to Forgive each other

In this part he is saying so what?? Let's start living life together, he is ready to take all consequence and outcome of whatever is going to happen because what matters is our love, faith and trust.

What about love? What about feeling? What about all the things that make life worth living? What about faith? What about trust? And tell me baby...what about us?

How can I give this Love a new beginning? How can I stop the rain? It's never ending How do I keep my soul believing? Memories of how we Should be keep calling

    [Chorus]

I'll take the rivers rise I'll take the happy times I'll take the moments of disaster

    Memory

I remembered when my ex and I had this little argument then this song played on the radio where we both worked. We just let it be heard by our hearts and quietly left the place well and things happened before were patched up.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
