I agree with molson but I think that there may be something else to it. At the very end he says "Carry me with your wings". Knowing that they are very religous and that Jesus is sometimes said to raise people on his wings (Church Hymn: And He will raise you up on eagle's wings), I think he is saying that we should all take control of our lives and follow in the teachings of Jesus (Grab the wheel right now, and make this life yours. Walk with me)

You nailed it. This song has a deeper meaning and you caught it. Although I want to add one thing. "Grab the wheel and make this life Yours" I believe that this line is a reference to God in that, as Christians, we should submit ourselves to God and let Him take control of our lives because without Him, we are bound to live a chaotic life.

This song is about taking control of your life and leading it where you want it to go. It talks about how when your a kid you just took what life handed you and new things became available when you got to a certain age (ie: stay home alone at 11/12 yrs old, learn to drive at 16 etc). Where as now he's saying if you want it, then you go out and fucking get it now.
