Just Like Anything Lyrics
Just like anything
To sing
To sing
To sing
Is a state of mind
Sunlight dances slowly on a drum beats broken rhyme
I speak in answers only to see them in my mind
If I had a penny I'd throw it in the sea
to see if would float away
Or grow a penny tree
I play the fool of rhythm
To speak of what is sane
I never think of singing to those who feel the same
See how high the rain falls
See the color in my hair
Hunt for golden porridge bowls
Hear the paper tear
Just like anything
To sing
To sing
To sing
Is a state of mind
Death gives no reason
So why should I
Death has no season
So I know I'll never die
Just like anything

Dash it! I actually think it's 'grow a penny tree'.
And I think 'grow of any tree' should be 'grow up any tree'.
Jackson said that this song was a nonsense song, meant for 'comic relief' after the extremely melancholy 'My Name is Carnival', and 'I want to be Alone (Dialogue)'. It's ironic though, because this is definitely one of the saddest songs I've ever heard.
I'm interested to hear that Jackson sees this song as comic relief. Doubly so, as I too feel that this song is one of the saddest he ever wrote.

Where did he say that?
Where did he say that?
No meaning?
Oh potatoes.
This is one of my favourite songs ever.
I really wanted it to be deep. >:/
I would add though, that it is not in the mind of the artist where meaning is created, but rather in the eyes and ears of the audience. This song carries great meaning with me (all very personal - not possible for Jackson to be referring to it), and, whether he meant for it or not, I take this song with me every day of my life.
