If I Were You Lyrics
You seem to find the dark when everything is bright.
You look for all that's wrong instead of all that’s right.
Does it feel good to you to rain on my parade?
You never say a word unless it's to complain.
It's driving me insane…
If I Were You, holding the world right in my hands,
The first thing I'd do is thank the stars for all that I have.
If I Were You…
Look what surrounds you now, more than you’ve ever dreamed.
Have you forgotten just how hard it used to be?
So what's it going to take for you to realize
It all can go away in one blink of an eye?
It happens all the time…
If I Were You, holding the world right in my hands,
The first thing I'd do is thank the stars above,
Tell the ones I love that I do…
Yea If I Were You,
Whoa, yea If I Were You
If I Were You, whoaaaa
Yea If I Were You
So what's it going to take for you to realize
It all can go away in one blink of an eye?
It happens all the time!
If I Were You, holding the world right in my hands,
The first thing I'd do is thank the stars above,
For the ones I love,
Take a breath and enjoy the view,
Live the life that I’ve wanted to.
If I Were You... If I Were You... If I Were You!
You look for all that's wrong instead of all that’s right.
Does it feel good to you to rain on my parade?
You never say a word unless it's to complain.
It's driving me insane…
The first thing I'd do is thank the stars for all that I have.
If I Were You…
Have you forgotten just how hard it used to be?
So what's it going to take for you to realize
It all can go away in one blink of an eye?
It happens all the time…
The first thing I'd do is thank the stars above,
Tell the ones I love that I do…
Whoa, yea If I Were You
If I Were You, whoaaaa
Yea If I Were You
It all can go away in one blink of an eye?
It happens all the time!
The first thing I'd do is thank the stars above,
For the ones I love,
Take a breath and enjoy the view,
Live the life that I’ve wanted to.
If I Were You... If I Were You... If I Were You!

Yeah, it seems like he's talking about how "you" should stop taking things for granted, and actually try and appreciate what "you" have, instead of focusing on all the cons, concentrate on the pros instead. Also, "you" might only realize what you had after you lose it. As for the song, I don't know if it's "sold out" or whatever; I generally don't care about stuff like that. It sounds good to me. Maybe a little different from their usual sound, but still good.
great song. i think it's about him trying to help her see the good things in life that she can do and bring out. maybe that's it.
Hoobastank officially has sold out.
Used to love these guys, but this is just simply Remember and the reason in one. yawn.
CORRECTION:!! woops....wrong song I mentioned. This is Disappear and the reason in one.
1) It's "instead of all that's right"; "rain on my parade"; "thank the stars above for all that I have"; "hard it used to be"; "for you to realize"; "It all could go away"; "tell the ones I love that I do"; "For you to realize"; "is thank the stars above, for the ones I love" Man, this thing got butchered in getting typed.
2) It's about the NHL lockout, and one of the guys from Velvet Revolver. From VH1.com: " 'If I Were You ...' was really inspired by, um, the NHL strike. Not like 'Oh, I'm going to write a song about hockey!' but watching all that — and going on tour with Velvet Revolver — you see all these guys who have so much and don't appreciate it," he said. "They seem to have forgotten where they came from. Actually, let me rephrase that: Four of those guys were the coolest ever, one of them is just in his own world. And I'll leave it at that."
the beginning of this song sounds like a beatles song.
the end of the song is better than the start - more their sound. at the start i was horrified. at the end i was pleasantly content.
Sold out? What does that even mean today? They have been signed to a major label since "s/t". If they ever "sold out" it was THEN (which I don't think is even remotely the case).
Anyway, this song leaves more to be desired for sure. The different sound and tinkering with ideas definately makes waiting for this album tougher than it would have been had they come out with another "normal rocker single" such as 'Out of Control' or 'Crawling In the Dark' as they did for their first two releases. Exciting!
I just realized the irony of a guy named BlinkMM182 bitching about a band selling out... Oh, that's rich.
Okay, I agree with Blink partially, it's a decent song, I hope the other songs on the album are better. But IndelibleEntity, you realize that Blink 182 put out 9 albums before they "sold out" as you say they have. Though, I hardly think they've sold out, they've gone to the point where it's hard to be original when you've made so many hits and gotten so many fans. Blink pushed the limits that most people thought was unthinkable, the running naked on the music video, was kick ass back then.
But back to the real point. It's a pretty good song, the lyrics are a little repetitive, so I'm hoping the other songs on the albums are good.
