Surrender Lyrics
=D I love this song. I think this song kind of sounds like a guy who likes a girl but the girl is his best friend. and he is always her crutch when she needs help. the part about him being the referee I think refers to him as playing the "game of love" ..but he isnt playing he is just judging her boyfriends. the chorus part with the surrender... I think that means that when he became friends with the girl he surrenders his judgement because he doesnt want to say something bad about her boyfriend and make her angry? And that he cant tell her how he feels because he doesnt want to ruin the friendship.
I could be completely wrong =) either way..
i think you're right, when he says " Talk over coffee for an hour or two She wonders why I'm always in a good mood". i think its because hes always happy to see her

Very True...the same thing happened to me. He knows her well, he is one of her best friends, and he loves her but loves her enough to want her to be happy with whomever, The line "I think I found a flower in a field of weeds. Searching until my hands bleed. This flower don't belong to me" pretty much means that he has her but he can't call her his. But then he never does anything about it. "I never had the nerve to ask". It's that classic story of friends falling in love.

This is on Billy Talent's purevolume space, written by Ben.
"Valentine's day for the most part sucks...I've hated it for the longest time because it either reminds me of someone I once had or someone that I'll never be allowed to have...which got me thinking ...love comes in so many different forms on so many different levels...Unrequited love is one of those forms/predicaments I've been in and it fucking sucked...Loving someone SO much but due to circumstance and timing I wasn't able to ever tell her exactly how I felt...I watched as other men came and went from her life and every time I just wanted to grab her and say "it's me stupid!!! I'm the one" anyway...the record is finished being recorded and we can't tell you how excited we are to share it with everyone...it is by far the best piece of work that we have ever done together...we experimented with new sounds and new emotions one being love and its many incarnations...This song Surrender was written about this one circumstance I was in with a friend...it is a REAL love song...believe or not...slow and romantic and it is a little different than most Billy Talent you've heard before...like our last record...we tried very hard to make it a complete piece with every song complementing the next but each one being different and unique in its own way...this song will be slightly different when it gets on the record and is a work in progress...so to speak...but we figured that because Valentine's Day is considered a holiday and we love our fans more than any band because we sincerely care about you and all your well beings...this is a gift from us to you...take care"
this is a really does show a much gentler (sp?) side BT

"i never had the nerve to ask as my moment come and passed" means u hold your intention to tell tis girl that u love her because u always have tomorrow to see her again until u lose her.

its an amazing song.
I think this song is about A guy who is best friedns with a girl but he really loves her. In the lyrics "She'll never know how much she means to me. I play the game but I'm the referee. " means that All he'll ever do is judge her boyfriends but she will never know that he really loves her. Also in the lyrics "I travel time and confess to her, But I'm afraid she'd shoot the messenger" could mean that he wanted to tell her that he loved her a long time ago so he wouldnt ruin their friendship
"as my hope had come and passed" is really "as my moment had come and passed"
This guy is definitely in love with this girl; there's no doubt about that. But, they are not friends.
This may sound a little farfetched, but I think this guy and this girl work together. In fact, she is his boss. He is her assistant - someone she can always trust and depend on at work - but they are definitely not friends outside of work. Sure, they may meet up for some coffee before work but it's all on a professional level. The girl obviously doesn't suspect anything because she always wonders why he's in a good mood. He's only in a good mood because he's around you, you dumb biatch!
I really like "I travel time and confess to her, but I'm afraid she'd shoot the messenger." Basically, this guy is obsessing over someone totally outside of his league. She is so far above him, like royalty.
I don't know, one could take this as a sweet song about a crush, but personally, I think it's kind of creepy. If he were in love with me, I'd want to know! So to all those who are in love with me, please confess now - in the form of a song would always be a plus.
I love this song! Definitely a favorite!
LAWLZ, projection test ftw.

I see what you mean but this song is actually about a guy falling in love with a girl but she thinks of him as a best friend and goes to him for help and advice. He really wants to tell her and be with her but he knows he never can and/or ruin the friendship.

"This flower don't belong to me" i think that line sums up the entire meaning of the song. This song is very different from all of their others, but quite beautiful nonetheless.
This song is amazing...but the lyrics on here are all wrong. I'll give the right ones...
She reads a book from across the street Waiting for someone that she'll never meet Talk over coffee for an hour or two She wonders why I'm always in a good mood
Killing time before she struts her stuff She needs support and I've become the crutch She'll never know how much she means to me I'd play the game but I'm the referee
Surrender...every word, every thought, every sound Surrender...every touch, every smile, every frown Surrender...all the pain we've endured until now Surrender...all the hope that I lost, you have found Surrender...yourself to me.
Even though I know what I'm looking for She's got a brick wall behind her door I'd travel time and confess to her But I'm afraid she shoot the messanger
Surrender...every word, every thought, every sound Surrender...every touch, every smile, every frown Surrender...all the pain we've endured until now Surrender...all the hope that I lost, you have found Surrender...yourself to me.
I think I found a flower in a field of weeds I think I found a flower in a field of weeds Searching until my hands bleed This flower don't belong to me
I think I found a flower in a field of weeds I think I found a flower in a field of weeds Searching until my hands bleed This flower don't belong to me This flower don't belong to me Why can't she belong to me?
Every word, every thought, every sound Every touch, every smile, every frown All the pain we've endured until now All the hope that I lost, you have found
Surrender...every word, every thought, every sound Surrender...every touch, every smile, every frown Surrender...all the pain we've endured until now Surrender...all the hope that I lost, you have found Surrender...yourself to me
(Surrender) I never had the nerve to ask (Surrender) Has my moment come and passed? (Surrender) I never had the nerve to ask (Surrender) Has my moment come and passed? (Surrender) I never had the nerve to ask (Surrender) Has my moment come and passed? (Surrender) I never had the nerve to ask.
...Sorry for the length, it just kills me when the lyrics are wrong. :)
