We were 17 and on our own
When we hit the gas for the great unknown
I was named for a boy, she was named for the fall
And nothing much else really mattered at all

I knew what happened on her kitchen floor
And she knew what it meant when I wrote on the door
Secrets spilled into that dark
And everyone was a piece of my heart

It's a lullaby
It's a beautiful life
And it sings me to sleep most every night
So I hold it close
And I hide it away
That's how I keep it from going astray
Love doesn't need a rhyme or a reason to be
This is the story of Autumn and me.

We grew up fast in a few short years
And we littered the path with the tracks of our tears
But we carved or names in the proverbial wall
And nothing much else really matters at all

We earned every line in our 25 years
We cried over boys and we laughed over beers
I wouldn't trade the girl for a song
She lets me know right where I belong

Rooftop dancing in the summer heat
New car crash on a one way street
Strangers moving up to the fourth floor
Strange, now nobody knows me more

It's a lullaby
It's a beautiful life
And it sings me to sleep most every night
So I hold it close
And I hide it away
And that's how I keep it from going astray
Love doesn't need a rhyme or a reason to be
This is the story of Autumn and me

I agree with spike95. At first you're like wait...lesbians? Then you're like OH they're friends.

So I think that the two girls, (while seventeen) are still in High School. That's why it said they were on their own. Then they come to college, aka, the great unknown. They become roomates and instantly share with each other their lives, they become best friends in a blink of an eye.

and while she's 25, they're separate now, they have different lives and have moved away from each other. another clue that this has to do with college is when it says "strangers are moving up to the fourth floor."

She'll never forget her roomate in college.

And I think before bed everynight Autumn would sing a song. So when she says "sings me to sleep most every night..." that's what is has to do with.

This song is sooo amazing. Ah.

I love the line "and she knows what it means what I wrote on the door". My close friends and I have these doors that they sign and write things on everytime they come over. My best friend and I have numerous inside jokes out there. =] This song really relates to her and I. Especially since she moved a couple of years back and we're still very close.

This song is actually about Marti and her best friend Autumn. We discussed how it fits perfectly with my best friend and I and she said she wished she could see Autumn more often, so this song is about the 2 of them.

I think that maybe this song is telling about how two best friends are best friends at 17 and as they grow on through there lives things start to change. They may become closer than friends and the part where it says "we carved or names in the proverbial wall" maybe it means that they have feelings for one another and share it only between then , with the kitchen floor and writings on the wall. I feel that maybe as 25 somehting may have happened to Autumn as it says "new car crash on a one way street"....and that people may be moving into her apartment. The song that marti is talking about singing her to sleep is the memories that her and autumn shared in the 25 years that they shared.

In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
