This Is The End (For You My Friend) Lyrics

Seems every station on the TV
Is selling something no one can be
If every page was torn from the magazine
Would cash still drive the media-machine?
The products, damage and pursuit are endless
Identity can leave you selfless

We will not witness... this anymore....

CHORUS
This is the end, for you my friend!
I can't forgive!
I won't forget!
On and on... we sing our songs and...
On and on... your wars wage on and...
On and on... we sing our songs for more

For more

Your eyes are open but you can't see
Your mouth is moving but you don't speak
A blitzkrieg of images to break your will
I hope you choke on every pill

We will not witness... this anymore....

CHORUS
This is the end, for you my friend!
I can't forgive!
I won't forget!
On and on... we sing our songs and...
On and on... the wars wage on and...
On and on... we sing our songs for more

"Whoa-oh"s

Yeah! Yeah!
We will not witness... this anymore....

This is the end, for you my friend
I can't forgive
I won't forget

CHORUS/OUTRO
This is the end, for you my friend!
I can't forgive!
I won't forget!
On and on... we sing our songs and...
On and on... the wars wage on and...
On and on... we sing our songs and...
On and on... the wars wage on again...
On and on... we sing our songs and...
On and on... the wars wage on again...
On and on... we sing our songs for more

We sing our songs for mo-hore!

Apparently this song (as described my the band) is about the whole "model" image. Women are so worried about looking beautiful that they've forgotten how beautifl they already are.

Its not just the "model image" alot of this album, especially this song is anti-advertising, shoving images down our throat basically brainwashing us into thinking that there are certain norms to be followed into society, also touching on how teens male and female have record numbers of eating disorders because of the images pounded into our heads of perfection.

and this song is basically saying "fuck you" we are ourselves dont advertise to "us" (referring to the people affected by this) we dont want your version of what is good, everyone is fine who they are.

I completely agree, I'm apperently mature, and thinking ahead for a 16 year old, but i can't imagine raising in this day and age, I could never do it, all kids ar taught is that your a perfect person, or that your trash, and you should just go kill yourself, i mean that whole notion has taken over styles of music, Glam metal, Emo, Fashioncore (which shouldn't exist anyways but yeah) im going to stop ranting now.

This is a great song. It's catchy but its got a good meaning too. I agree with everthing said so far. About how it's about ads on tv and in magazines making everyone lose their self confidence because they don't feel they meet up to the standards.

I also think it might be about people who gets cosmetic surgeries and it completely messes up their life because something goes wrong. That's what the "I can't forgive; I won't forget" line makes me think of. Just what I think though.

Also, since everyone's talking about sell-outs here's my two cents. If a band is a sell-out because they're making more money than they were before can it really be used as an insult? Do you honestly think that it makes a difference? It's like your boss offering you a raise. Say you were making $8/h and they offer you $10/h. You'd still be doing exactly the same thing only you got more money for it. I know I'd say yes. But then lets say one of the other employees gets the raise even though you've been working there much longer. You'd probably be jealous of them. So what I think is when people call a band sell-outs because they're making more money it's just because they're jealous of that band's success. Which is pathetic really. Hopefully this made at least a little sense ._.

And besides; it could be a lot worse. It's not like they're on the covers of all the teenie magazines :x

For those of you who beleive Anti-Flag sold out, its not about the money, its about the publicity, their trying to get more listeners. they have alot to say, and being a sellout means that you give up your principles and i've heard their new albums they are as dedicated as ever, maybe if the group started talking about haveing sex and starting stuff with the police then they would be sellin out but your all completely ignorant if you think they did their just trying to get their music heard so others can educate themselves about whats going on in the world and help people.

"A bitch could get paper to break your will" should be "a blitzkrieg of images to break your will"

THANK YOU for that! I knew the "bitch-paper" line made no sense, but I couldn't distinguish it as anything else.

You got it. Yeah, when I read the lyrics I wasn't sure what bitch paper was either, so I went back and checked the song to be sure...
