Butterflies Lyrics
We've been to the top, we've been to the bottom
We've known everything and forgotten, yeah
You've kicked me around, you've wrapped me in cotton
You've carried our load and you've shot them
Oh yes the butterflies are still there
Oh yes the butterflies are still there
We've argued by the baggage claim
We've accepted and we've laid blame
We've drank sang-thip in monsoonal rain
We've felt separate and we've felt the same
Oh yes the butterflies are still there
Oh yes the butterflies are still there
Oh yes the butterflies are still there
Oh yes the butterflies are still there
We've shared joy and we've shared pain
We've shared guilt and we've shared shame
We've bought into the stupid games
We've freed eachother and we laid claim
Oh yes the butterflies are still there
Oh yes the butterflies are still there
Oh yes the butterflies are still there
Oh yes the butterflies are still there
Because we came from the same cocoon
We've known everything and forgotten, yeah
You've carried our load and you've shot them
Oh yes the butterflies are still there
We've accepted and we've laid blame
We've drank sang-thip in monsoonal rain
We've felt separate and we've felt the same
Oh yes the butterflies are still there
Oh yes the butterflies are still there
Oh yes the butterflies are still there
We've shared guilt and we've shared shame
We've bought into the stupid games
We've freed eachother and we laid claim
Oh yes the butterflies are still there
Oh yes the butterflies are still there
Oh yes the butterflies are still there

I think you guys are right about the relationship thing, the ups and downs of two people who've been together for a long time, which means they may have matured and changed and experienced many things together. Maybe the last line about the cocoon means they've matured together.
This is quite obvious, I think. It's about an established relationship--these people have been together for a while, but the attraction hasn't faded--the butterflies are still there.
That or it's about drugs. It seems like everything else is about drugs. >_>
I agree with the relationship-thing carpe_noctem said. I don't think it's about drugs.

you're a fucking moron. it's not about drugs retard.
geez...im pretty sure she was just joking..
anyway, what i don't really get is the "Because we came from the same cocoon" this makes me think of siblings, but im pretty sure this song isn't about incest :|
^^ that's a joke (before someone calls me an effing moron)
Maybe the thing about the same cacoon means they were like made for each other... no matter what?
I like this song... and i agree with the above interpretations
I kinda also felt that even though one of them continually hurts the other "You've kicked me around, you've wrapped me in cotton" the hurt one still loves the other.
I think its about a relationship as well, and the line "We've argued by the baggage claim" makes me think they're on their honey moon and sang-thip is a thai whiskey so the line "We've drank sang-thip in monsoonal rain" backs that up right?
i think its about getting married and you know still being with someone and still feeling those butterflies in your belly. the kind you get when your nervous and really excited about something like in the start of a relationship.
