Bowling Ball Lyrics
Maybe he'll change, maybe things'll get better
Maybe it would be nice, if he wouldn't always put you down
Maybe things'll work out, but maybe they'll never
And i think you've given him the benefit of the doubt
You need that boy like a bowling ball dropped on your head
Which means not at all
You have too much to give, to live to waste your time on him
You need that boy like a bowling ball dropped on your head
Which means not at all
You have too much to give, to live to waste your time on him
Maybe he'll change, if you could be better
But maybe it's not your fault, he's checking out the waitress now
But someday you'll change, one day you're stronger
And you will have changed enough that it's time to get out
You need that boy like a bowling ball dropped on your head
Which means not at all
You have too much to give, to live to waste your time on him
You need that boy like a bowling ball dropped on your head
Which means not at all
You have too much to give, to live to waste your time on him
(you have too much to give, to live to waste your time on him)

To me, this song is talking about a girl in a somewhat abusive relationship. She wants the relationship to work, but he puts her down. Superchick is saying that she doesn't need a guy who won't respect her for who she is, and it'll only bring her more pain.
I agree in part with Lucygirl, but I also believe this song might have a deeper meaning. Instead of perhaps an abusive boyfriend, I think it may be talking about the Devil. People who fall for his lies may think that he loves them and will reward them for sinning when actually he hates them and is only using them. Think about it..."Maybe it would be nice, if he wouldn't always put you down" and "Maybe he'll change, if you could be better". I admit the comment about watching the waitress does seem more like a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship but I still think that well, Superchick is a Christian band, so I don't know.
the devil? nahh, this song's definitely about girls in abusive relationships, and those who think they need a guy to make them worth it.
My friend was in this on-again-off-again relationship with this guy I didn't really like...he wasn't abusive to her or anything like that, but he would ignore her in public and stuff like that...I played this song for her, and from that point on they were off-again forever...I let Superchic[k] give the advise I couldn't put into words! I love this band their lyrics are really encourageing, especially for girls!
man i love this song cause i have been in a few bowling ball relationships, and its so true , alot of other young girls don't know they don't have to stay with a guy just because its better (to them) than being alone. girls deserve a whole lot better than they think.
As soon as i saw the line... "Maybe it would be nice, if he wouldn't always put you down" my first instant thought was 'why is she still with the guy if he's using harsh words???'
This is something for everyone for everyone to think about out there who's reading this and is in a struggling relationship; weither you're a girl or a guy.
I sang this song to a friend of mine who got out of an abusive realtionship when she was thinking of taking him back...I wanted her to know she's better than that!! (You have too much to give, to live, to waste your time on him)...
