The leaves will fall
And so will you
When you do, bury me under them too
Seconds pass, we'll make it through
Eventually we all go home
It won't be long
It won't be long

We walk along the wire tied between horizons
You close your eyes like it's nothing at all
Throughout the rise and fall, everything, everything
Changes, I will be here when you die

It won't be long
It won't be long
Until we find our way home

Did you hear the trumpets play the day your father died?
Did a violin swell those circles under your eyes?
Did you play the part straight, like a marcher?
Get lost in the beat, thinking and feeling
Did the drums in the streets make the people dance?
Or fall to their knees as the sound?
Knock the leaves from the trees
As they fall from the branch, the look beautiful
As they hung in the air

Spinning around
Did you float in the air?
Spinning around

There must be somewhere that cigarettes burn through the night
And the leaves don't abandon their trees to the light
Where the skies always clear
And the summer never ends

Won't you take me there?

The leaves will fall
So will you
When you do, bury me
Under them too
Seconds pass; we'll make it through

Eventually we all are going home

I'll leave here for good. He's been waiting. Seven months left ‘til they bring home our baby. He swore he was paying for school. They shipped him over. Now he studders on the fine lines. He swore he would follow his conscience. The daughter only follows his orders instead. When he shoots, he sings a song. He doesn't know that she's been singing it too. it wont be long it wont be long till we find our way home

Sorry, I feel like a dick doing that. I had them for so long and wanted to put them up.

On the side note, this song is about the father's daughter after he died in war. It's like she never knew her father. And she wants to be anywhere besides this hateful world.

I'm sorry that is so wrong.

The leaves will fall And so will you When you do, bury me under them too Seconds pass, we'll make it through Eventually we all go home

It wont be long…it won’t be long

I live with a girl whos been waiting seven months now til they bring home her baby This war was paying for school. They shipped him over now he scatters on the frontlines He swore he would follow his conscience. But done the wrong way follows his orders instead When he shoots, he sings this song. But he doesnt know that she's been singing it too

It wont be long It won’t be long til they find their way home.

We walk along the wire Tied between horizons You close your eyes like its nothing at all Throughout the rise and fall everything, everything changes I will be here when you die.

Did you hear the trumpets play the day your father died? Did the violin swell those circles under your eyes? Did you play the parts straight like a marcher Or did you get lost in the beat, thinking and feeling? Did the drums in the street make the people dance or fall to their knees from the sound Now the leaves from the tree's they fall from the branch They look beautiful as they hung in the air Spinning around Did you float in the air. Spinning around.

Minus the capitalization corrections, I still say you suck.

I think this song is a masterpiece. I love this song. The instruments seem to actually mean something emotionally, while in most songs they are simply accomapanyment to the lyrics. Anyways.... "They shipped him over. Now he studders on the fine lines." that line of the other verse is still correct, while the rest of what promiseofdreams has is correct, except for "But done the wrong way" that doesn't flow very well, but is close, but "daughter only" is just wrong

He can sign up for the Military to pay for school, but studder on the finelines, as the young soldier may have not anticipated actually killing someone( which was the finelines), so he refused to kill conscienously, but to preserve his own life shot anyway. Seven months is a tour of duty more than likely so it's bring home her baby, (her son)

The tracklist for the new album, A City by the Light Diveded, is out and it includes a song called "Autumn Leaves Revisited", which is almost certainly this song.

I think this song is amazing.

Eventhough I think instead of "They shipped him over. Now he studders on the fine lines." it's "They shipped him over. Now he studies on the front lines."

This song amazingly expresses how the war affects so many more people than just the soldier...it also comes across like Geoff is against War, just by the fact he inserts moral strife. The guy closes his eyes like it's nothing at all...because it is something...people shouldn't be killing people.

    I love this song.

I can't wait to hear Autumn Leaves Revisited, if they improved this already perfect song like they did ATV, i will expect to be floored.

Warren wanted a Beach Boys thing for this one, and Carl Wilson and Billy Hinsche came in, with Carl arranging the vocal parts. The other harmony vocalists (credited as the "Gentlemen Boys") were Jackson Browne, J.D. He reuses the verse melody from the previous album's "Dirty Little Religion", the topics of the verses are all over the place, and he packs too many words into one line (goes to show...) and too few in another (it's pretty hard to find), and rhymes "Henley Regatta" with "Persona non grata", but gets away with it all as only he could.

Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"
