Nothing Ever Dies Lyrics

Here we are
Under the same old sun
All alone yet somehow bound and unified
Dust to dust...
Ashes to ashes won't take long
We search for a harbour
Somewhere to belong

They say that faith is all you need
To stay forever young
What you've sown is what you reap
Our sins can't be undone

There is a god in each society
So right is wrong where wrong is right
Noone could be sure
Still we are certain
That what we know is truth
The only truth
We're building our temples taller

They say that faith is all you need
To stay forever young
What you've sown is what you reap
Our sins can't be undone

How can we trust them once again
They used to tell us lies
Their voices will sustain
Cause nothing ever dies

Love is the only truth
Pure as the well of youth
Until it breaks your heart
You took me higher
Than the mountains I have climbed
You waited all your life for me
You left me all alone behind
But we'll meet again
We will meet again

I think this song is about the lies told to the public by religion, the governments, etc.

This has got to be my favorite Kamelot song! Not sure what it means though.

I think in this song Ariel realizes that religions and dogmas just makes differences between societies, so he has to follow his own beliefs, to do what he thinks he should do. And that's where he realizes that his own goal in life is to love. Not to follow other's people beliefs, just to love: "Love is the only truth Pure as the well of youth (...) You took me higher Than the mountains I have climbed You waited all your life for me"

So, what i think is that he realized that his own goal is to live for his own love.

Continued from comment on The Black Halo (you must read the comment in order to follow the concept and understand it)...

Ariel Reflects that every human, throughout all of history , struggles with these same questions of right and wrong, love and lust, righteousness and sin, faith and doctrine. In a sudden moment of clarity, he comes to a profound realization: Love, including the love between Helena and himself, is the only universal truth. In this revelation, he realizes that he not only knew this truth all along, but that, for his part, he created it.

I'm still not fully satisfied with those Wikipedia-interpretations, because they use to miss some important information.

Anyway, these are Ariel's thoughts on quite everything. After he chased away Mephisto in Black Halo he realizes that love is the only thing that can lead to peace. And in the moment that he realizes that he is fully content. He truly wants this moment to last forever and desires to "linger on" in that "state of still" ... rememer these words? They're from A Feast For the Vain and that means that his deal with Mephisto is completed now. So in Memento Mori Mephisto comes back to take Ariel's soul. If you look at this song from that point of view it seems to be one of the very most important of the whole story, because it directly leads into the finale.
