Taking Back My Soul Lyrics

Processed, diluted,
Virtually unrecognizable
I was lost there - no direction
A scattered void

No more
It's over
I'm on to you
Your evil game
The tables have turned
I am taking back my soul

Tranquilized, Scruntinized
Hate injected mind
As if internal wounds
Wouldn't bleed, wouldn't hurt me

I see through your lies
Taking back what's mine

I'm gonna have to disagree with you, last-dodo, though you did inspire my guess. I think it's about how we are treated as objects by the system, how we are tricked into acting like machines. Of course, this is the view of one who has figured out just how much his emotions have been puppetted by the media (example: Uncle Sam tried to inject hate for Iraq into our minds before the war, never thinking how much that lie could hurt when it came out). I think this agrees more with the anti-government, anti-mass media message of Arch Enemy.

If you would listen to Arch Enemy more you would realize a recuring patter... revolution from the generalized and esentialy mind washing public. As for this song they use short, 1-4 word sentences to discribe this person of there subject, an anarchist one might believe "Processed, Diluted, Virtually unrecognizable, Tranquilized, Scruntinized, Hate injected mind." Then she throws out "I was lost there - a scattered void. No direction." saying that they simply live day to day in an ignorant bliss doing virtualy nothing with "no direction". Then the fore mentioned person snapped to and realized that this isnt what life is suposed to be like, and demands there soul, or identity back, and the lack of which is slowly and undetectably killing them "As if internal wounds wouldn't bleed, wouldn't hurt me."

hmph no comments on an incredible song......meh i think it's about a human guinea pig which is constantly drugged and then studied upon. the studying is so vigorous that the person becomes 'a scattered void' (just mentally messed up). then he breaks out of the "spell" and gets a bit angry. thats what i think anyway..... more from the stupidly good arch enemy =]

this song is ok, but i think that guitar riff before "No more It's over" is reeeeeeeeeeally annoying for some reason. but its still an ok song

This is clearly an Anarchist song and based on their dislike for the "system" it is probably more specifically Anarcho-Socialist.

Song is amazing - chorus is amazing, pity it comes from an album with not that many top quality songs - I think they made a better album in 2007s Rise of the Tyrant - but in terms of song quality this is definately one of Arch Enemy's best!

This and The Last Enemy are just belters! Get them on in your car and for your own sake watch your speed, I often find myself doing over 50 in urban zones because of this music :D

My Opinion

I see that it can be about governments, corporations the structures in societies. But also about god, or gods most people believe in. The lies of this creature or creatures that blind and mislead the people. Taking them deeper and deeper into darkness, lost in the void, virtually unrecognizable. Killing the humanity inside us, killing the truth inside us, killing the love inside us. Twisting and corrupting it. Corrupting us. Taking our souls. Until you open your eyes and see. See the evil game. And start taking back your soul. And the same lies the same structures of fear and deceit repeat in society.
