Blacksheep Boy Lyrics
Here I am back home again.
And i'm here to rest.
And everyone asks where i've been, knowing i've been west.
I'm the families unarmed boy.
Golden curls of envied hair.
Pretty girls, with faces fair.
See the shine in the blacksheep boy.
And if you love me you'll let me live in peace, and please understand that the blacksheep can wear the golden fleece and hold the winning hand.
And i'm the families unarmed boy.
Golden curls of envied hair.
Pretty girls, with faces fair.
See the shine in the blacksheep boy.
And i'm here to rest.
And everyone asks where i've been, knowing i've been west.
Golden curls of envied hair.
Pretty girls, with faces fair.
See the shine in the blacksheep boy.
Golden curls of envied hair.
Pretty girls, with faces fair.
See the shine in the blacksheep boy.

don't know this song yet but it's an okkervil river cover? isn't it?
It is actually originally written by Paul Weller. I believe KD is putting it on his next CD, but I can't guarantee it. I do know he does an amazing job though.
although kevin devine didn't write this song, the lyrics are right up his alley. to me it sounds like it's about a guy who's family has no idea how screwed up he and his life are; he hides it very well, hence, "understand that the blacksheep can wear the golden fleece and hold the winning hand....see the shine in the blacksheep boy".
The song was actually written and originally performed by Tim Hardin. Paul Weller covered it.
Kevin does the best cover of it I believe. Also its "I’m the family’s unknown boy" I'm not sure where they got unarmed.
wow, i thought it was an okkervil river cover too.
i'm pretty sure it is an Okkervil River cover. but ive been wrong before.
JeremyB1 is right this song was written by Tim Hardin and has been covered by several different artists, including Okkervil River for whom it provided the inspiration for the album Black Sheep Boy
